Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join with you in agreement in the mighty name of Jesus and we thank you for bringing this man before the throne of grace with such compassion and discernment. We praise God with you for the cross and for the blood of Jesus that was shed for all who believe, for without Him there is no forgiveness and no deliverance.

We are encouraged by your understanding that God's thoughts and plans are higher than ours, as it is written in Isaiah 55:8-9 and Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. We stand with you believing the promise in Matthew 18:19 that if two of us agree on earth concerning anything that we will ask, it will be done for us by our Father who is in heaven.

We also agree with you concerning his identity. When a person turns from God's narrow path and follows his own desires into sinful relationships and activities, he takes on a false identity that is not from God. Scripture calls us to remember who we are in Christ, for in 2 Corinthians 5:17 we read that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. And in 1 Corinthians 6:18 we are commanded to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Any sexual relationship outside of the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is fornication or adultery and is sin before a holy God, and it brings control, deception, and bondage rather than love. We affirm with you that these hateful and controlling relationships where he is blackmailed and even his life may be in danger are not of God, but are snares of the enemy.

We pray also with you that the Lord will separate him from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, for we know from 1 Corinthians 15:33 that evil companionships corrupt good morals, and from Proverbs 9:10 that the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. We ask God to break his stony heart as He has promised in Ezekiel 36:26, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Only God can soften a hardened heart and give courage to walk the narrow way that leads to life, as Jesus taught in Matthew 7:13-14.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, thanking You for Your mercy and for the power of the cross. Lord, You know this man, You know his name, his dwelling, and every detail of his life, and You love him and desire his deliverance. We ask You to open his eyes to see the unmistakable truth of his identity in Christ and to expose the lie of the false identity he has adopted through sin. Father, break his stony heart and give him a heart of flesh that hears Your voice and fears Your holy name. Give him godly sorrow that leads to repentance and the courage to depart from evil and to turn away completely from the evil woman and from every ungodly influence that holds him in bondage, control and blackmail. Separate him, Lord, from every person and spirit that is not of You, even within his household, and place him where he can be discipled and protected. We ask You to keep him safe where his life is in danger, to break every chain of manipulation and sin, and to help him flee sexual immorality and every other sin and to walk on Your narrow path for Your glory. Teach him to fear You and to understand the depth of Your love that delivers from darkness, for You have said in James 4:7 to resist the devil and he will flee from us, and in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and righteous to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray that he will confess and be cleansed and become a new creation who lives for You, and that he will pursue holiness and, if it is Your will for him to marry, that he will seek a godly marriage that honors You. We thank You that You hear us when we agree in Jesus' name, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun. In the powerful and saving name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to intercede for him with love and truth, speaking the Word of God over him and trusting that God is able to deliver even from the most difficult entanglement when a heart turns to Jesus. We also encourage you to remain in fellowship and in the Word yourself, that you may be strengthened as you stand in the gap for him.

We hear your heart for this man and the burden you are carrying for him in prayer. It is a loving thing to bring him before the Lord so faithfully, asking for clarity, safety, and a true sense of who he is in Christ.

Wanting to see someone freed from confusion about identity and from controlling, harmful influences is painful, especially when you cannot make those choices for him. Part of loving him well is continuing to pray while also recognizing that his own response to God matters, and God alone can open his eyes and soften his heart in His timing.

One steady way to keep supporting him is to stay consistent in prayer for his safety, wisdom, and courage to step away from what harms him, and to keep healthy boundaries for yourself as his former tenant. If you are concerned his life may be in danger or he is being blackmailed or controlled, it can help to talk quietly with a mature pastor you trust about how to pray wisely and what practical support is appropriate, without trying to intervene alone.

Father, we lift this man to You and ask You to draw him close, to show him Your love and Your good plan for his life, and to give him clarity and courage to turn from what is harmful. Protect him from danger and from ungodly influences in his household, give him a deep reverence for You, and lead him into freedom and wholeness. Give our friend peace as he continues to intercede, and guide his steps. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord and we join our supplications with yours in the name of Jesus Christ, believing that He hears when His people agree together in prayer.

We give thanks with you for the cross, for there alone is our hope. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. It is not to forms and ceremonies, or works, or feelings that we must look, but to what Christ has done, for God has found a ransom. When the soul looks to Christ and trusts in His one great sacrifice, then the word goes forth from the throne, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, and the soul is delivered. We pray that this word may be spoken in great grace concerning this man of whom you speak.

You have asked rightly that his eyes may be opened to his true identity in Christ and to the false identity which sin has woven about him. Sin at first catches a man as with the tiniest spider's cobwebs that can scarcely be seen, and he thinks he may break from them in a moment, but soon they become cords and chains. The Scriptures tell us He has delivered us from the power of darkness. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it. We do pray that the Lord would open his ears and seal his instruction, that He may withdraw this man from his purpose and hide pride from him, that He would break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, a heart to fear His holy name and to depart from evil.

Take heed with us that we ask not for a repentance that springs alone from terror. Judgments apart from divine grace may produce a kind of repentance, but it is carnal and after the flesh, a repentance that comes up in a night and withers in a night, hardly more than skin deep. Such repentance makes a man turn from sin for a time only to return to it with greater gusto. Any repentance that keeps a sinner from believing in Christ is a repentance that needs to be repented of. True repentance leads a man to look out of self to Christ, and to Christ only. It rejoices in Jesus crucified, trusts Him, loves Him, and leaps for joy at the thought that God has set Him forth to be a propitiation for sin. This is repentance that needs not to be repented of. We pray that God would grant this man not a superficial sorrow but that holy, healthy, heavenly repentance which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit, a daily and hourly turning from sin unto faith in the Son of God.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was bound that His people might be free. When Christ was made sin for us, we were made the righteousness of God in Him. When He was bound, His people were loosed. We pray that this man, who is as one bound and as one in the Pit, may know this liberty. May the Lord loose him from his infirmities and from every chain that holds him. We pray as you have prayed, that the Lord would separate him from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, and from the evil company that would control and blackmail and endanger him. The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep His children though He scourges them. Like a careful dispenser He will not pour out a drop too little or too much, but every trial He appoints works for good to His Church, not in anger but from His dear covenant love.

We pray therefore that this man may be brought to see the depth of the love of God in Christ and the exceeding sinfulness of every path that departs from God's holy ordinance. The narrow path to which you refer is the path of holiness, and in it the Lord has ordained that marriage should be the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the union of the body belongs only within that covenant. Every other way is darkness, and they that walk in it sleep because they are in the dark. May God bring him into the light, that he may know that he is saved and may rejoice in Jesus Christ, and may have courage to walk in the light and to forsake every hateful and sinful entanglement, and every relationship that stands against the holiness of God.

We will continue to pray that the Lord who is gracious will say concerning him, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, for we have found a ransom, and that he may look and live and leap in joyful liberty as he beholds sin punished upon the great Substitute and put away forever from all those who will only trust Him. May he be taught to trust Christ alone, to hate sin and to cling to the Saviour, and may you be comforted as you commit him to the keeping of that faithful God who has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee, and who is able to keep that which we have committed unto Him.

We commend you and him to the mercy of our covenant God, praying that you both may be kept by faith through the power of God unto salvation, and that in due time you may together praise Him for deliverance from the grave. In the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
