Deliverance from agressivity

Disciple of Prayer
Hello everybody, I request prayer for my husband. Please pray that The Lord deliver him from agressivity. Please pray for him. I love him. He is a believer.

We hear your heart for your husband and we join you in lifting him up before the Lord, thanking God for your love for him and for his faith as a believer. Marriage is a holy covenant before God and we know God desires that it be marked by love, peace, and tenderness between husband and wife.

Aggressivity, anger, and harshness are not from the Spirit of God and must be put away. Scripture is clear that this does not reflect the character of Christ in a husband who is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church. We gently but firmly rebuke this spirit of aggressivity because it harms the oneness God intends for marriage and it grieves the Holy Spirit. As it is written, Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32. And again, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25, and Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered. 1 Peter 3:7.

We also remember the fruit that the Spirit desires to produce in every believer, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23. And we are exhorted, So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1.

We notice you asked for prayer to the Lord and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. We rejoice that your husband is a believer and we stand on the promise that through Christ he has the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome the flesh and to walk in gentleness and self-control. If he has not fully surrendered this area to Jesus, we pray he will confess it, repent, and receive the cleansing and strength that comes only through faith in Jesus.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently for him, to speak to him in love and truth when there is calm, and to encourage him to seek accountability with a mature pastor or godly men in the church who can counsel him and help him put on the new man in Christ. If his aggressivity ever becomes threatening or harmful, please seek wise and safe help from your pastor and trusted family in the Lord, for God desires your safety and peace as well.

We pray together for you both now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, asking for Your mercy and deliverance. We lift up this dear husband to You, asking that You deliver him completely from aggressivity, from wrath and harshness and every work of the flesh. Fill him anew with Your Holy Spirit, that the fruit of love, peace, patience, gentleness and self-control may abound in him. Teach him to love his wife as Christ loves the church, to honor her, to be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger, and to let his words be with grace. Heal any wound or root of anger within him, renew his mind by Your Word, and make him a man of peace in his home. We also lift up his wife, give her strength, wisdom, grace and protection, help her to respond with a gentle spirit without enabling sin, and knit their hearts together in Your love. Let their marriage glorify You and be a testimony of Your redeeming power. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We are grateful you reached out and that your love for your husband comes through so clearly. Carrying concern about aggression at home is exhausting, especially when you know his faith and want to see peace grow in your marriage.

We admire your desire to pray for his deliverance rather than simply pulling away. Change often grows when a person is willing to take honest responsibility for his reactions and invite help, and that is something a trusted pastor or Christian counselor can walk alongside him with. If he is open, offering to go with him to talk with someone you both trust can be a gentle next step.

It can also help to have one or two safe, mature people in your own life who know what you are carrying and can pray with you and check in, especially on hard days. When things are calm, a brief, kind conversation about what triggers the outbursts and what you both want to do differently next time can open the door, but if you ever feel unsafe, please reach out right away to a pastor, counselor or trusted family member for support.

Father, we lift this husband and wife to You. Bring calm where there has been aggression, heal what is wounded, and give both wisdom and courage to take the next faithful steps. Draw him closer to You and shape his words and actions with Your gentleness. Keep this home under Your care and guide them to the help they need. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been brought before the Lord with thankfulness, and we join our hearts with yours in prayer for your husband.

We thank God that you love him and that you speak of him as a believer, for love within the covenant of marriage is a tender and holy thing, ordained by God between one man and one woman for life, and it is right that you should seek his good and his holiness. To love a husband and to desire his deliverance from sin is itself a work of grace in your own heart.

You ask for deliverance from aggressivity, and we would have you know that deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. No man can subdue his own temper or tame his own tongue by mere resolve, but the Lord who brought Israel forth when the lamb was slain is able to bring forth your husband also with a new spirit of meekness and self control.

There is therefore hope, and that hope is not in man but in Christ who has found a ransom. The same Saviour who delivers the sinner from going down to the pit delivers his people day by day from the power of darkness. The evidence of this deliverance is experimental, as the apostle says, He has delivered us. When the heart is truly renewed, it cannot go into sin by way of pleasure or give way to wrath without grief and repentance, for the Spirit of Christ makes the soul to hate what once it indulged.

We will pray that the Lord will work this effectual deliverance in your husband, that He will chasten what needs to be chastened in mercy and not in anger, and that He will pour into him the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness and temperance. May the Lord give him a watch over his lips and a rule over his spirit, and may He give you peace within your borders. Like a careful dispenser He will not pour out a drop too little or too much, but will deal with you both in weight and measure according to His dear covenant love.

Let us pray together. O Lord our heavenly Father, who art the Husband of Thy people and faithful though we are unfaithful, look in tender pity upon this brother in Christ and upon this marriage. Thou knowest the struggle with aggressivity and the sorrow it brings. Deliver him, we beseech Thee, from the power of this sin. Subdue his temper by Thy Spirit, clothe him with the meekness and gentleness of Christ, and make him to be a man of peace in his own house. Grant to his wife strength to pray without ceasing, wisdom to speak the truth in love, and grace to moderate all anger against second causes and to look to Thy hand in all things. Bring them forth from this trial enriched with silver and gold of holiness, that they may live and declare the works of the Lord. We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Thou hast found a ransom in the blood of Thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Continue to wait upon the Lord, to seek Him in His Word, and to seek the counsel and prayer of faithful pastors near you. He who heard Jacob at the brook Jabbok and turned the heart of Esau to tenderness is able to do far more than we ask or think, and He will not shut His ear against the cry of those who seek deliverance in the name of Jesus.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank you for sharing your heart and for your love for your husband, and we join you in prayer for him and for your marriage.

We pray that the Lord will deliver him from aggressiveness and renew him in gentleness, self control and peace. Scripture teaches us to follow peace with all men and holiness, and that marriage is honorable and to be lived in love and order. The husband is called to honor his wife and to love her as Christ loves the Church, not with harshness or anger but with kindness and patience. Aggressiveness does not reflect the character of Christ, and we ask God to root it out and to replace it with His fruit of love, joy, peace, patience and gentleness.

We pray together:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this husband to You. You know him and love him, and You have called him to walk as a believer. We ask You to deliver him from all aggressiveness and anger. Soften his heart, calm his spirit, and teach him to be slow to anger and quick to listen. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, so that he may honor his wife and live with her in understanding and love. Bring healing and peace into their home, and let Your presence guard their marriage. Give his wife strength, wisdom and encouragement as she continues to love him and pray for him, and help them both to seek You daily in prayer and in Your Word. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Continue to bring this before the Lord each day, and we encourage you both to stay rooted in Scripture, in prayer together when possible, and in fellowship with trusted pastors or mature believers who can walk with you, counsel you and support you personally. If his aggressiveness ever puts you in danger, please seek help at once from your pastor and from safe and trusted people near you.

God has called us to peace, and He is able to change hearts and to restore what is broken. We will keep praying that He will do a deep work in your husband and bring greater gentleness, unity and joy into your marriage.

Thank you for sharing your heart and your love for your husband. It is clear that you care deeply for him and want to see God do a gracious work in his life, and we will join you in prayer for his deliverance.

Scripture shows that anger left unchecked is destructive. One of the patriarchs spoke over two of his sons that their anger was cursed because in their anger they acted with cruelty and violence, and that temper cost them greatly. God does not hide that truth. Aggressiveness wounds a marriage and wounds the one who carries it, and God desires to set His people free from it.

The good news is that God is able to change the heart. When Jacob feared meeting his brother Esau after years of bitterness, God softened Esau's heart so that what could have been a meeting filled with recrimination became an embrace with forgiveness and tears. What is impossible for us is possible for the Lord. He can calm a troubled spirit and replace harshness with gentleness. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and self control, and God can form that fruit in a believer who yields to Him.

In marriage God has given a simple and beautiful design. The husband is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church and as he loves his own body, to honor her, to care for her and to be considerate of her as the weaker vessel. A woman has a deep need to know she is loved supremely and securely, and when a husband loves in that self giving way it brings security and peace to the home. The wife is called to respect her husband and to live a pure and reverent life before the Lord. The two callings work together. The more a husband shows Christlike love, the easier it is for a wife to respect him, and the more a wife shows respect, the easier it is for a husband to love. When either calling is neglected, trouble compounds, but when both are followed, marriage can be a place of great enrichment and answered prayer.

For you as a believing wife, Scripture encourages you not to try to push or force change through pressure or constant correction, which often only drives a husband further away. Instead, continue in prayer and in a quiet, holy and respectful manner of life before the Lord. As you walk faithfully with Jesus, your life becomes a gentle witness. That does not mean you must submit to anything that would violate your conscience before God or that would harm you. A husband who loves as Christ loves will not require that of his wife. Love does not act harshly or brutally. If aggressiveness ever involves threats or harm, please seek wise and godly counsel and help from mature believers and protect your safety while you pray for his healing.

God also teaches in Scripture that husband and wife belong to one another and are to show kindness and consideration to one another, not withholding good from each other. Marriage is a lifelong covenant, bound as long as both shall live, and God intends it to be a place of mutual care, not fear.

Let us pray together for him.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this husband to You. You know his heart and his struggles. We ask You to deliver him from aggressiveness and from a spirit of anger. Forgive him where he has sinned, cleanse him, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Teach him to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger, and to love his wife as Christ loved the church, with tenderness, patience and self control. Heal any wounds in his heart that fuel this anger and make him a man of peace in his home. Strengthen his wife with Your comfort, wisdom and courage as she continues to love him and walk faithfully before You. Let their marriage reflect Your grace and let their home be filled with Your peace. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Continue to bring him before the Lord daily. God hears the prayers of His people and He is able to deliver and to transform. Trust Him to do that deep work, stay rooted in His Word, and remain connected to faithful believers who can walk with you both in love and truth.
