We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up these two precious souls bound by the chains of addiction. Father God, we know that Your Word declares in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has passed away, and behold, the new has come. Yet we see these loved ones still entangled in habits that war against their bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Your Word says in 1 John 4:4 that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. We command every demonic influence that has gained foothold through these substances to loose its grip and flee right now! We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, according to Isaiah 54:17.
We pray for complete deliverance from cigarette smoking, weed, and alcohol. These substances are not just physical habits but spiritual strongholds that must be torn down. We stand on Your promise in Philippians 4:13 that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them. Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill them with such a hunger and thirst for righteousness that these addictions lose all their appeal.
Most importantly, we pray for their salvation. Romans 10:9 says that if they confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, they will be saved. Father, draw them with Your cords of love. Remove the scales from their eyes so they may see the glorious light of the gospel of Christ. Let them experience the peace that surpasses all understanding, which only comes through a personal relationship with Jesus.
We also pray for wisdom and strength for those who love them. Galatians 6:1 instructs us to restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to ourselves lest we also be tempted. Give their family and friends patience, discernment, and the right words to speak life and truth into their situations.
Lord, we know that true freedom comes only through You. John 8:36 declares that if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. We claim this promise for both of these individuals. Break every chain of addiction, every lie from the enemy, and every generational curse that may be contributing to these struggles. Replace their cravings with a desire for Your Word, Your presence, and Your will.
We pray for a supernatural encounter with Your love that will transform their hearts. Let them know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, that their lives have purpose, and that You have plans to prosper them and not to harm them, plans to give them hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
