Degrees of punishment in Hell?

Some matters not all Christians agree on like the Rapture{pre-Tribulation, mid-Trib, or post Trib, many other things. But one thing that pops up is I've heard some say there are degrees of punishment in Hell. Like, if someone dies in their sins, but is just an "average" person who can't enter Heaven because sin can't enter Heaven, compared to, say, a dictator who has ordered the death of many. Verses like "Some will be beaten with few stripes, some with many" seem to bear this out.Reading about the Great White Throne Judgement,it does say about the dead,"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before the Throne. And books were opened. And another was opened, it was the Book of Life. And they were judged every one of them according to their works."Now check that out.Why would they be judged according to their individual works,if they all get the EXACT SAME level of punishment? That would seem like , maybe levels of punishment...or not?I've read and heard many Christians say they believe in this, like with our laws, someone who missed an alimony payment doesn't get the same punishment as, say, a mass murderer.I know some will answer, any sin will keep us out of Heaven. Yes,I know. But that wasn't the question. The question is, is there anything one way or the other about degrees of punishment in Hell?

The devil is in charge of hell and he will give to each sinner what they deserve. The degrees of punishment is in his hands and we know that it is not gona be a nice place to be. Jesus clearly said. I will throw them in the furnace of fire, in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth. Matt. 13.42 My prayer to God on a daily basis is this. That no one I know will end in that horrible place where the unquenchable fire will burn people and they will not die but suffer burns all over them. O Jesus, save them all we pray. Amen

You are referencing the "Great white throne" judgment at the end of the thousand year reign of Jesus on the earth. There does not seem to be any "degree" of punishment given. At this judgment the ungodly are judged according to their works and are shown why they merit being judged and are deserving of hell. The main reason they are cast into hell is for not believing in Jesus. Not believing in Jesus would be the greatest sin. In the end, death and hell are cast into the "lake of fire"

Revelation 20:14-15 King James Version (KJV)
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Hello Steven Bobb
You have some very interesting postings here. I read what you have shared regarding "Are there degrees of punishment in hell". Here's my take on this subject we must be born again blood washed by the shed blood of Jesus and be in right standing with God at all times so with that being said is when we die we wont have to be concerned about the different degrees of punishment in hell. And not only for ourselves but while we have our breath here on earth we should share the precious gospel of God's love for mankind by sharing the gospel starting with John 3:16 so that others will not experience hell at any degree because being separated away from ALMIGHTY GOD AT ANYTIME ESPECIALLY IN HELL THROUGHOUT ETERNITY IS HELL ITSELF REGARDLESS OF WHAT DEGREE IT WILL BE FOR OTHERS WHO REFUSE TO GIVE THEIR LIVES TO JESUS AS THEIR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR.. God bless you
