Deep Sorrow and losing

Anonymous

Beloved of All
faith. Good Afternoon Prayer Team, I am in the valley of struggle a place that i may never get out of. I posted before about having to leave my job of over 20 years due to mobbing by approximately ### people. I had no other choice. this mob included senior management. Needless to say i fell behind on rent and recently applied for assitance with the arrears. The landlord ambushed me because I told the truth about what my rent amount should be and they were subject to an audit of their records. The retaliation has been severe but i figure if i am asking for help from the city and state they need accurate info/document to process the payment. I am trying to do my part as a tenat to get the back rent covered. I also learned that my rent arrears may drop to zero due to the landlord's plight to not be honest. Father in Jesus name, I am weak in body right now and this whole situation makes me feel lost. I am searching for new jobs, but trying to put all documents in order for submission to the agency for the arrears has left me very exhausted and sorrowful.

We hear the depth of your pain and exhaustion, and our hearts ache with you as you walk through this valley of struggle. The betrayal you’ve endured, first at your workplace and now in your housing situation, is a heavy burden to carry. It is not right that those in authority have used their power to harm rather than protect, and we stand with you in righteous anger against such injustice. The Word tells us, "The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble" (Psalm 9:9). Even when earthly systems fail, He sees your suffering and will not abandon you.

You are doing the right thing by pursuing truth and integrity, even when it has brought retaliation. Scripture commends those who walk in honesty, saying, "Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool" (Proverbs 19:1). The enemy may use fear and exhaustion to make you doubt, but we declare that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). The God who parted the Red Sea for His people will make a way for you, even when the path seems impossible.

We must also speak to the weariness of your spirit. When sorrow feels unending, it can shake even the strongest faith. But Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He is not distant from your pain, He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). If your faith feels fragile, cling to Him in this moment. He is the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and He will sustain you.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, lifting up every weight they carry, financial strain, betrayal, exhaustion, and the ache of injustice. Lord, You are the God who sees, and You promise to be a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask You to intervene in this housing situation. Expose any deception, soften the hearts of those in authority, and let truth prevail. Provide the resources needed to cover the rent, whether through this assistance program or another miraculous provision. Open doors for new employment that honors their skills and dignity.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to isolate and overwhelm. Strengthen their body, mind, and spirit. Remind them that their worth is not defined by the cruelty of others but by Your unchanging love. When they are too weary to pray, Holy Spirit, intercede with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26). Restore their hope, Lord, and let them feel Your nearness in tangible ways.

We also pray for protection, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Shield them from further retaliation and surround them with godly community. Raise up advocates who will stand with them in this fight. And Lord, if there is any unforgiveness or bitterness taking root, uproot it now. Help them to release these burdens to You, trusting that vengeance belongs to You alone (Romans 12:19).

Above all, we ask that You draw them closer to Jesus. Let this trial refine their faith like gold, not break it. May they emerge from this valley with a deeper dependence on You and a testimony of Your faithfulness. We declare breakthrough, provision, and restoration in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Friend, you are not forgotten. The same God who fed Elijah in the wilderness and preserved Joseph through betrayal is at work in your life. Keep pressing forward in truth, even when it’s hard. The enemy wants you to give up, but God is using this season to prepare you for something greater. We encourage you to reach out to a local church or Christian community for practical support, whether help with documents, a meal, or simply a listening ear. You do not have to walk this road alone.

And if you’ve never fully surrendered your life to Jesus, now is the time. He is the only one who can save you from sin, despair, and eternal separation from God. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." If you’d like to pray that prayer with us, we’d be honored to guide you. There is no condemnation in Christ, only grace, forgiveness, and new life.

We have been holding your note before the Lord and we hear how heavy this valley feels. Giving twenty years to a job and then having to leave because of mobbing, even from senior management, is a deep and painful loss. It makes sense that you feel exhausted and sorrowful now, with the pressure of rent arrears, a difficult landlord response after you told the truth on your paperwork, and the daily work of gathering documents while also searching for a new job.

You did the right thing in giving accurate information to the agency, even though it has brought retaliation. That kind of integrity is costly and we admire your willingness to do your part as a tenant to get help properly.

What you are carrying is not just one loss but several layered together, the concrete loss of income and stability, and the threatened losses that naturally crowd in like fear about housing and what comes next. When everything feels tangled, it can help to separate what is already real from what is still uncertain, so the heart is not carrying all the what-ifs at once.

If it helps, you might ask your caseworker for a simple written checklist of exactly what is still needed, then work on it in short blocks with rest in between rather than pushing through for hours. If the landlord pressure continues, a local tenant assistance or legal aid office can often explain your rights at low or no cost. And since you mentioned feeling weak in body, we gently encourage you to let your primary care provider know as well as you keep praying for strength.

Father in Jesus name, we lift our friend to You in this weary season. You see their honesty, their exhaustion, and their search for work. Give them rest for body and mind, clear next steps for each document and application, and wise, kind people to walk with them. Hold their faith when it feels thin and remind them they are not forgotten. Amen.

Your letter comes from the valley, and it has been read with a tender and prayerful heart. You speak of deep sorrow and of faith that feels as though it would fail, and none will wonder that you feel so, for to be beset by many, to leave a place of labour after twenty years, to be pressed by want of rent and by the strife with those who should deal justly, and to be weak in body while you gather papers and seek for work, is a heavy burden indeed. Yet the valley is not a place where you must remain forever, and faith, though it be tried, may yet triumph.

You remember Job, who was tried beyond most men. Of him it is written, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He tore his garment, for sorrow has its proper expression, but he did not tear his faith to shreds. He was brought to the ashes, and there he saw the Lord more clearly than before, and he repented of every rebellious thought and bowed before Him who must be right. So may you be upheld, not by your own strength, but by Him who is able to keep the feet of His saints from falling.

There are two voices that speak in such an hour. One is fear, which asks, Will He plead against me with His great power. The other is faith, which answers, No, but He will put strength in me. This is the reply of faith for you now. Not only in prayer, but in duty, in the seeking of honest work, in the ordering of documents, in the telling of the truth though it bring retaliation, God will put strength in you. You have done well to speak truly concerning your rent, for truth is comely before God and before men, and though an audit and the anger of a landlord have followed, the Lord loves integrity and will not forsake the honest soul.

You say you are weak and lost and exhausted. Hear then what faith is. Faith is to the Christian all the spiritual senses. By faith we see Him who is invisible, by faith we feel His sustaining hand. The light and love of God come into our consciousness by faith, as through gates of agate. And faith in its essence is a dropping down into the arms of Christ, a laying hold with the hand of confidence upon the rope which Christ Himself holds fast upon the shore. Your faith may be little, and little faith is still faith, and therefore precious. It is true faith if it begins and ends with Jesus, it is the gift of God though it be but as a grain of mustard seed. He that has little faith shall be tenderly handled by his Lord, for Christ does not despise the smoking flax. O you of little faith, why did you doubt. The two are inconsistent, for you have a strong Christ and an unwavering promise. Look to Him, not to the littleness of your faith, and He will increase it.

Despair must be denounced, for it is a high insult to God and it degrades a man below the very brute, which will struggle to live even when wounded. No man has a right to despair while God is the sinners hope and while Christ stands ready to receive all who come unto Him. To say there is no hope is to crown the adversary in Christs stead, and to make your own sigh come true by your own making it so. You are not lost while God lives, and He does live and reign. The Christian walk is faith and the Christian life is faith, and if your faith can stand the test, even though it be shaken as with a puff of wind, it will be found to be that true faith which is worthy of God.

Therefore, take above all the shield of faith, for it quenches the fiery darts of the wicked, whether they come from Satan, or from unkind men, or from your own weary heart. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Faith and repentance go together as twins, born at the same time. Come then with repentance for all sin and with simple trust in Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and cast your whole weight upon Him.

We will pray for you, that the Lord will give you strength in body, that He will guide the agency that reviews your papers, that He will provide honest labour for your hands, and that He will keep your dwelling and supply your need according to His wisdom. May He who numbers the hairs of your head and who has seen every act of mobbing and every injustice, plead your cause and cause your faith to triumph, so that you may yet say with Job, Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him. Look to Jesus, hold fast to Him, and you shall find that He will put strength in you for this day and for all that is to come.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your sorrow has been heard, and the weight you describe is not light. To labor faithfully for more than twenty years and then be driven out by many acting together, even by those in authority over you, to fall behind on rent through no carelessness of your own, to seek help from the city and state and then face retaliation for simply telling the truth about what you owe, and now to feel weak in body, exhausted by paperwork, and sorrowful in spirit, this is a deep valley indeed. You are not forgotten in it.

There is no life in this world that is free from sorrow. As one cannot sail a long sea without some tossing of the waves, so no one passes through this life without grief. If not today then tomorrow, trouble comes. The rich man has his own sorrows, and even a king cannot do all he wishes and is often grieved by those around him. Each person feels his own grief as the heaviest, one for a child, one for loss, one for a home, one for work. Your grief over work and housing and health is real, but you are not alone and you are not singled out by God for abandonment. Many share in sorrows, though the sources differ, and the Lord sees each one.

Christ Himself knew what it is to have plots laid against Him and to be sorrowful. He said, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death. He knows the sting of being surrounded and misunderstood. And after His resurrection, His first word to His disciples who were in fear and war with the world was, Peace be unto you. To those in sorrow He brings joy, a joy that no one can take away. What He promised before the cross, that your heart shall rejoice and your joy no man takes from you, He accomplished. That peace and joy do not mean the hindrances vanish at once, but that He has won the victory and remains with you in the struggle.

Your tears in this time are not wasted. There is a sorrow that belongs to the world, and there is a godly sorrow that becomes the seed of unfading joy. The woman who came to Jesus weeping, loosing her hair, washing His feet with tears and wiping them, showed outward signs of an inward fire of repentance and love, and God who alone beheld her heart received her and honored her. So God beholds what is wrought in your heart now, your desire to do what is honest before the agency, to provide accurate documents even when it would be easier to stay quiet, your exhaustion and your longing for Him. He does not overlook quiet faithfulness.

You speak of losing faith and feeling you may never get out. Hear the encouragement given to those who are tempted to draw back. The just shall live by faith, but if any man draw back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him. We are not of them that draw back unto perdition, but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Even to be saved by faith is not of ourselves. By grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, for you were called before you first believed. The word is nigh you, even in your mouth and in your heart, the word of faith which we preach, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. With all who call upon the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, salvation is near. In the season of temptation, make not haste, do not cast away confidence, but call upon Him.

So continue to call upon the Name of Jesus Christ alone for salvation and help. Continue in the honest path you have taken with the rent assistance, telling the truth even under pressure. God loves truthfulness and He will be your witness. Keep gathering what is needed for the agency as you are able, but also allow your body rest where you can, for weakness and exhaustion themselves need care. Keep seeking work as strength allows, trusting that God who clothes and feeds will provide.

We pray for you now. Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, look upon Your child who is weary in body and sorrowful in spirit. Grant peace that steadies the heart in the midst of war and waiting. Grant strength for each document and each step, provision for daily needs and for the rent that weighs so heavily, justice where there has been retaliation, and honest dealing to be vindicated. Lift the sorrow and turn tears toward joy, and keep faith from failing. Hold this dear one from drawing back, and let the confession of Christ on the lips and belief in the heart be renewed each day. Give rest, give hope, and give a door to work that is fitting and good. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation. Amen.

Your words show how heavy this valley has become, and how exhausting it is to keep doing the right thing while feeling weak in body and sorrowful in spirit. Losing work you gave more than twenty years to, especially through the cruelty of many people including those over you, and then facing pressure around your housing and the honest paperwork for help with back rent, would leave anyone weary. God sees that weariness. He is not distant from it.

Scripture describes faith not as a feeling of strength, but as a kind of substance and evidence. It gives a real footing to what we hope for and a quiet conviction about what we cannot yet see. That is what faith does in a valley. It does not deny the struggle, it steadies you inside it to keep looking to God when the outcome is still unseen.

We are also told that without faith it is impossible to please God, not because God demands perfection from us, but because He invites trust. That trust has always been simple. From Abel to Enoch to Abraham, God counted people as righteous not for flawless lives, but for believing Him and looking to the Messiah He promised. In the same way today, we are made right with God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and that faith itself is a gift, not something we earn. If we add anything to Jesus, we lose the ground we stand on, but if we rest in Him alone, God accounts that trust as righteousness.

True faith always shows itself in life, yet works do not create faith and cannot replace it. Faith comes first, and then it moves us to act. To say we trust God while our choices never reflect it is an empty claim. Real trust produces a changed direction, a willingness to obey even when it costs. Your decision to tell the truth about the rent amount, even knowing it could bring an audit and retaliation from the landlord, is an example of that. You chose honesty and a clear conscience before God and before those processing the assistance, even though it made things harder. That kind of integrity does not earn salvation, but it is the natural fruit of a faith that wants to please God.

The testing of faith can feel especially heavy. That testing is not so God can discover what is in you, He already knows. It is the proving of what you profess, and it often comes through hardship and waiting. Scripture is honest that many people of faith suffered, were mistreated, and even died still trusting without having received all that was promised. Their suffering did not mean their faith failed, and your present suffering does not mean yours has. Having faith is not a guarantee that we will avoid sorrow or be immediately delivered from every hard circumstance.

It may help you to know that even great men and women of faith had lapses. Abraham, who is held up as a classic example of trust and obedience, had moments when his trust faltered, yet when God remembers him He highlights the triumphs of faith and passes over the failures. God works with imperfect people, and your faith will grow over time as you walk with Him and learn His faithfulness. Feeling weak, discouraged, and even questioning does not disqualify you. A lapse is not the end of the story.

The call now is to hold on to that sincere faith and to a good conscience. Keep doing the next honest, faithful steps before you, gathering what documents you can, seeking work, asking for help where it is offered, and bringing your weakness to Jesus each day. God is not looking for impressive deeds to justify you, He looks at your trust in Christ who was given for your sins and raised for your justification. That is your righteousness.

May the Lord give you physical strength and rest for your exhaustion, peace for your sorrow, and provision for your daily needs. May He guard you in the housing process, give wisdom to those reviewing your case, restrain any retaliation, and open a door for work that fits your health and gifts. Above all, may He lift your eyes to see beyond what is visible right now to the One who sees you, who keeps His promises, and who will not let those who trust in His Son be put to shame.

You are not forgotten in this valley. Keep looking to Jesus, even with a tired and small faith, for even a small faith in a great Savior is enough to hold you.

Father, in Jesus name, I lift this dear one to you. You know the body that feels weak, the heart that feels lost, and the weariness of trying to do what is right. Show your nearness, provide for rent and daily bread, grant favor in the application process, and bring work in your timing. Strengthen faith, quiet fear, and let your grace be the substance of hope until sight comes. Amen.
