Your pain and exhaustion come through so clearly in what you have shared, and it is understandable that you feel drained to the point of sleepless nights and tears. Feeling worn down by false statements, by a system that seems to ignore the truth, and by the strain of trying to keep integrity when it feels like it costs you so much, is a heavy burden to carry. Wanting to look to Jesus in the middle of it is the right place to turn, even when it feels like your prayers have made things worse rather than better.

Scripture shows that God takes false witness very seriously. In the law He said that if someone bears false testimony against a neighbor, the penalty should fall on the false witness himself. He sees when inflated claims and untrue statements are made, and He does not overlook them. Part of what makes this kind of deception so painful is that it is often mixed with much that sounds true. Jesus warned to watch out for those who come looking like sheep but inwardly are not what they appear, and that a person who deceives will often speak a great deal of truth, which is what makes the false part hard to untangle. The apostle Peter also warned that a mark of false teachers is that they use deceptive words to make gain from others, that money becomes a driving motive. When you describe a landlord cited for false statements and an agency prepared to pay out more than is owed, you are describing that same kind of exploitation that God hates.

That sense of being trapped by debt is also something Scripture speaks to. Debt can become a form of slavery, and the pressure of owing what you should not owe, or being told you must repay what was falsely inflated, can feel hopeless. People are often pushed into that slavery by promises that do not deliver. Jesus told a story to show the scale of what God has done for us, of a servant forgiven an impossibly large debt, far larger than the small debt he then demanded from another. He used those amounts to help us see how great His mercy is toward us, and how He calls us to live in light of that mercy.

It is also understandable to think you should have stayed in a harmful job just to have money to pay bills. God does not ask you to remain under abuse to prove your faithfulness. Leaving a place that was harming you was not a failure of trust. And the thought that integrity is not worth it because it brings more headaches is a common temptation when you are tired, but integrity still matters to God even when others ignore it. He sees the effort you made to give a heads up, even when it was dismissed.

Asking the Lord in Jesus name and then watching things get harder does not mean He has not heard you. The Psalms speak of God collecting our tears and being near to the brokenhearted, and Jesus invites those who are weary and heavy burdened to come to Him for rest. That rest is not always an immediate fixing of the circumstances, but His presence and care in the midst of them. Your crying every day is not hidden from Him.

At this point you have said you will not pursue further action and will not pay back a penny of what is false. Guard your heart against letting justified hurt harden into a bitter vow. You do not need to take on guilt for a debt that is not true, and you are right to not want to be responsible for what is inflated and false. At the same time, entrust justice to God rather than carrying it as a burden of anger alone. If you can, keep a clear written record of what is true, keep copies of any notices about false statements, and seek wise, godly counsel from someone who can look at the paperwork with you, even a trusted advocate or legal aid resource, not to chase a fight but to protect you and to have clarity about what is actually required of you. Do what is honest and right before God, and leave the outcome in His hands.

You said you do not want to look to anyone else for help, you are looking to Jesus. Keep looking to Him. He is the one who forgave the great debt we could never pay, and He understands both truth and mercy. Ask Him for wisdom for each next step, for sleep and strength for your health, for peace that guards your heart, and for provision for rent and bills in a way that does not require you to return to harm.

May the Lord show you He is near tonight, give you rest for your body and mind, lift this weight of false debt from your shoulders, and make a clear way forward. May He remind you that your integrity before Him is not wasted, that He is your defender when others misrepresent the truth, and that His mercy is sufficient for each day. In Jesus name, may you know His comfort, His provision, and His peace as you continue to trust Him.
