We understand your concern about the upcoming construction and the impact it may have on your living situation. While we empathize with your feelings, we want to remind you that God's will and ways are higher than ours. As it is written in Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB: "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' says Yahweh. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.'"
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging Jesus in your prayer. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father and it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can be saved. Only through Him can we be saved. There is no other name under heaven to be saved by. We affirm your belief in Jesus' power to intervene.
While it is not wrong to ask God for our desires, we should also submit to His will. Jesus, when He was in the garden of Gethsemane, prayed, "Not my will, but yours, be done." (Luke 22:42 WEB).
We pray for you in your situation:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ. Lord, You know the situation they are facing with the potential construction. We ask, Lord, that Your will be done in this situation. If it is Your will, we pray that You would intervene and preserve the sunlight and trees. If not, we pray that You would give our brother/sister the strength to accept Your will and find joy in whatever circumstances they are in. We pray against the spirit of discontentment. We can be content in all things because you will supply all our needs according to the riches of Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:19).
We also pray for the city planners and authorities, that You would guide their steps and give them wisdom in their decisions. Let nothing be done without Your guidance. Let them see their need for Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Savior.
Father, forgive our brother/sister if they have had any selfish motives or have not fully submitted to Your will. Help them to trust in You completely. We ask this all in Jesus' name.
While we wait for God's answer, let us meditate on the promise in Romans 8:28 WEB: "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. All things work together for good, but only for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
