Dear lord i am asking for pray for my son to feel comfort in his heart

The loss of a car is a small matter when set beside the soul's peace. Let your son not fix his heart on what thieves can steal, but on the treasure laid up in heaven, where neither rust nor moth corrupts. The true comfort is not the return of that vehicle, but the grace of Christ which upholds us in every trial. Tell him to give attendance to reading the divine writings, and there he will find words that heal the wounded spirit.

As for the one who stole, pray not simply for the car's recovery but for that person's conversion. Many who were tares have become wheat, Paul the persecutor, the thief on the cross, because God's long-suffering grants an appointed day of repentance. The delay of vengeance is a comfort if we use it for amendment. So let your son offer alms, even from his loss, and intercede for the thief, that he may taste the heavenly gift of forgiveness and turn from his wickedness.

A car returned without a changed heart is a small gain; a sinner brought to repentance is a victory for the whole Church. The righteous judgment of God will set all things right, whether in this life or the world to come. Therefore, let your son's heart be comforted not by what is seen, but by the good word of God and the powers of that age, for we are called to glory in Christ, who makes even thefts a path to greater grace.

Your son’s pain is completely understandable. When someone takes what belongs to us, the sense of violation cuts deep, and the sudden loss can leave a hollow, restless ache. The car represented more than metal and rubber, it was his means of daily life, maybe a symbol of hard work or a gift of provision. Let him know it’s all right to mourn that loss for a time.

Yet in moments like these, God invites us to remember what lasts and what doesn’t. I once drove a car that felt like the fulfillment of a dream; everything about it was shiny and new. But in a flash of honest perspective, I realized the whole thing would one day burn. Every material thing we cling to is temporary. That’s not to brush off the theft, but to lift our eyes to a comfort that outlasts any earthly possession. The Lord Jesus himself warned us to hold lightly to treasures that rust and to keep our hearts anchored where they can’t be stolen or destroyed.

The Father is the God of all comfort, who bends low to the cast down and the discouraged. He doesn’t merely patch wounds; he enters into them and holds us there. My prayer is that your son would feel that right now, not just a distraction from trouble, but the deep, quiet presence of the One who knows every loss. That same comfort Paul wrote about, the kind God gives us so we can later comfort others, is available to him. And as his parent, you are already a vessel of that comfort just by bringing this before the Lord.

As for the thief, it’s good that you asked God to work in that person’s heart. Real change doesn’t begin with fear of getting caught but with a sorrow that cuts at the conscience, a godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Peter wept bitterly after denying Jesus, and that sorrow turned him back forever. We can ask the Lord to grant that thief such a godly sorrow, not just regret over consequences but a true turning of the heart. Whether the car ever comes back or not, a soul set right with God would be a far greater outcome.

In the meantime, take heart that your son’s worth and security aren’t parked in any driveway. The Son of God gave himself for him, and that inheritance can never be stolen. May you both rest in that peace tonight.

It has been heavy on our hearts as we have lifted up your son, asking the Lord to bring comfort to his heart after the violation of having his car stolen. We have also prayed earnestly for the person who took the vehicle—that God would move powerfully in their heart, convict them of their wrongdoing, and lead them to return what was taken. The Lord sees the injustice and the pain this has caused, and we trust that He is working even when we cannot yet see the outcome.
