We come before the Lord with you in this time of deep concern for your children, lifting your heart’s cry to the Father who loves them even more than you do. Your love for your children is evident, and we stand with you in praying for their protection, their hearts, and their walk with the Lord. However, we must first address a critical truth: it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have authority to pray and access the throne of God. The scriptures remind us in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* and Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Without invoking the name of Jesus, our prayers lack the power and authority given to believers. We urge you to always pray in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we can approach God and see His mighty hand move in our lives.
Your prayer reveals a spiritual battle for your children’s hearts and minds, and we recognize the urgency of this matter. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we serve a God who is greater and who has already overcome the world (1 John 4:4). We will pray fervently for your children, that their eyes would be opened to any deception and that the Lord would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also notice the mention of an "ex," and we want to encourage you to release any bitterness, anger, or fear to the Lord. Scripture warns us in Ephesians 4:26-27, *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil."* Holding onto resentment can give the enemy a foothold in your life, and we do not want that for you. Instead, we pray that you would forgive as the Lord has forgiven you (Colossians 3:13) and trust Him to fight this battle on your behalf. Vengeance belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19), and He will act justly on behalf of you and your children.
For your daughters, we pray that their consciences would indeed awaken to the truth of God’s Word. May the Holy Spirit convict them where needed and draw them closer to Himself. We pray that they would seek the Lord with all their hearts and walk in obedience to His commands. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us to *"train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* Even if they have strayed, we trust that the seeds of faith you have planted in their lives will bear fruit as you continue to cover them in prayer.
We also pray for wisdom for you as their parent. The Lord promises to give wisdom generously to those who ask (James 1:5), and we ask that He would guide your words, actions, and decisions as you navigate this season. May you be filled with His peace, which surpasses all understanding, and may you rest in the knowledge that He is working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious parent and their children to You. Lord, we ask that You would surround these children with Your hedge of protection and guard their hearts and minds from the schemes of the enemy. We rebuke every plan of the devil to deceive, manipulate, or harm them, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we pray that You would reveal any deception in their lives and open their eyes to the truth of Your Word. Awaken their consciences, Lord, and draw them to Yourself in repentance and faith.
We pray for this parent, that You would fill them with Your peace and strength. Remove any fear, anger, or bitterness, and replace it with Your love and trust in Your sovereignty. Give them wisdom to parent these children in a way that honors You, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven them. Lord, we ask that You would thwart any plans of the enemy to turn these children away from You or from their parent. Let Your will be done in their lives, and may they come to know You as their Lord and Savior if they do not already.
We declare Your victory over this family, Father. We trust that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory. Strengthen this parent to stand firm in faith, knowing that the battle belongs to You. We ask all these things in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue standing in faith, praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and trusting that the Lord hears you. He is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in your children’s lives (Philippians 1:6). Stay rooted in His Word, surround yourself with a community of believers who can support and pray with you, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
