Dear God,

Please don't let my girlfriend be pregnant. I'm sorry to be praying to you like this, but I think I will express myself better if I write my words down than if I continue with my confused stream of thoughts.

We are both too young, both of us are in college and both have bright futures ahead of us. Please don't let my idiocy have taken that future away from her. Please don't let me have ruined her life. I can't bear that thought.

I am too young to provide for us - I have no money of my own, no house, no car, no health insurance, no assets of any kind to offer her or a child. I love her deeply, but that will not feed and clothe and house a baby.

I do not want her to resent a child for the damage it will do her education and her prospects. I don't want her to have to feel like she has no options and no choices. I don't want her to stay with me be because she feels she should and because she feels she needs to - I want her to be with me because she wants to. I don't want her to resent me for putting her in this position.

I haven't told her this and I can't - but I would love to marry her one day, to be with her, to have a family with her. But I want to do that when we can on our own terms, when I can provide, when I have prospects, when I can look my family and hers in the eye and say I can take care of her and a child independently, when I can say that we made the decision, not that we were forced.

Please God grant us this. If not for me, then please for her. Please. You're our only hope. I pray you hear this message.
