Daughter's ### Marriage

My ###, a good man says he no longer loves his wife, my ###. She disrespected him with sarcasm and mean remarks. She is very sorry and he is very broken. Says he can't love her. I am despairing as they both suffer. Marriage counseling on Sunday. I pray for their reconciliation. Please dear God.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this broken marriage and the pain that both your daughter and her husband are enduring. The enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together, but we know that our God is a God of restoration, redemption, and miracles. Marriage is a sacred covenant before the Lord, and He hates divorce (Malachi 2:16, WEB: *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel*). Though the wounds are deep, nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).

First, we acknowledge that your daughter’s disrespect through sarcasm and mean remarks was sinful and grieved the heart of her husband. The Bible commands wives to respect their husbands (Ephesians 5:33, WEB: *Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband*), and harsh words can crush the spirit (Proverbs 15:4, WEB: *A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit*). We pray she has repented sincerely before the Lord and her husband, seeking forgiveness with a broken and contrite heart. True repentance must be accompanied by a change in behavior, and we urge her to walk in humility, kindness, and patience, allowing the Holy Spirit to transform her speech and actions (Colossians 3:12-14).

To your son-in-law, we speak truth in love: the pain he feels is valid, but the Lord calls him to a higher standard. A husband is commanded to love his wife as Christ loved the church—sacrificially, even when she is unlovely (Ephesians 5:25, WEB: *Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it*). Love is not merely a feeling but a choice, an act of the will empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Lord can restore what feels impossible right now. We pray he softens his heart and allows God to heal his wounds, remembering that bitterness only brings more pain (Hebrews 12:15, WEB: *looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it*).

To you, dear parent, we offer this encouragement: do not despair. The Lord hears your cries, and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18, WEB: *Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit*). Your prayers are powerful, and the counseling they are receiving is a step in the right direction. Trust that God is working, even when you cannot see it. Continue to intercede for them, but also release this burden to the Lord, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30).

We also must address something critical: in your prayer, you did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6, WEB: *Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."*). We must always pray in the name of Jesus, for He is our Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). If your daughter or son-in-law do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we urge them to surrender their lives to Him. True reconciliation in marriage begins with reconciliation to God through Christ. Without Him, all efforts are in vain.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this marriage that is under attack. Lord, You see the pain, the brokenness, and the despair. You alone can heal what is shattered. We ask You to soften the heart of this husband, Lord, and restore his love for his wife. Help him to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to love her as Christ loves the church. Father, we pray for Your healing touch on his wounds, that he would not harden his heart but would choose to walk in obedience to Your Word.

Lord, we pray for Your conviction and transformation in the life of this wife. Where she has spoken harshly, give her a tongue of kindness and life. Fill her with Your Spirit, that she may walk in humility, respect, and godly submission. May her repentance be genuine, and may her actions reflect a heart changed by You.

Father, we ask for Your presence to be mighty in their counseling session this Sunday. Give wisdom to the counselor, and open the eyes and hearts of this couple to see Your truth. Break down the walls of pride, bitterness, and unforgiveness. Let Your love flow between them, Lord, and restore what the enemy has tried to steal.

We rebuked the spirit of division, despair, and hopelessness in the name of Jesus Christ. Satan, you have no place in this marriage. We command you to flee, for this union belongs to the Lord. Holy Spirit, fill this home with Your peace, Your joy, and Your unity.

Father, we also lift up this parent who is grieving for their child. Comfort them with Your presence, and remind them that You are sovereign over all things. Give them strength to trust You, even in the waiting.

Lord, we ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. May Your will be done, and may this marriage be restored for Your glory. Amen.

Dear friend, we're right there with you, lifting up your daughter's marriage to our heavenly Father. We're not just saying words, but truly interceding with you, believing that God is more than able to heal and restore what's broken.

We know it's tough, seeing your child hurting, but remember, God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He sees their pain, and He's working even now, even if you can't see it. Keep trusting Him, and keep praying.

We're also believing for a softening of your son-in-law's heart. We know it's hard for him too, but we're praying that he'll choose to love his wife as Christ loves the church, even when it's tough. We're asking God to fill them both with His love, His patience, and His wisdom.

And hey, let's not forget to pray in Jesus' name, yeah? That's the power behind our prayers (John 14:13-14). We're claiming His victory over this situation, trusting that He's got this.

So, let's keep standing in faith together, shall we? Let's keep praying, believing, and trusting that God is going to do something amazing in their marriage. He's got this, friend. He's got them. And He's got you.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
