We have heard your prayer for your daughter and we join you in bringing her before the great Physician.
The anxiety of a parent in such a case is very natural, yet we have learned that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. You are right to be concerned for her body, for we very speedily care for bodily diseases, they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they soon urge us to seek a physician for healing. Do not delay then in seeking proper medical care to discern whether there be any clot or other cause, while at the same time you lay her at the feet of Jesus. Use the means and trust the Lord with the outcome.
There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. He is the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, and not only His fruit but even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing, and that healing virtue which His grace infuses can work health and cure. As He once took the fevered one by the hand and lifted her up, so He is able still to touch and to heal. Calvary is the place for the healing balm, and His work is not only to point out disease but to apply the remedy.
We pray that the Lord in His mercy would spare your daughter from any dangerous cause such as a clot, that He would ease her pain and restore strength to her leg, and if it be His gracious will, that she may be made well and strong for her tryout. Above all we pray that she and you may know the deeper healing which comes with pardon, for healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction in Christ, and that you may be kept in composure of mind, free from fretful anxiety, delighting yourselves in a faithful God who does all things well.
We commend her to Him who gently and sympathizingly comes to heal, trusting His wisdom and love to do that which is best.
Father, look in compassion upon this daughter, remove fear and pain, guard her body from harm, and grant healing according to Thy perfect will. Give wisdom to those who examine and treat her, and give peace to this parent's heart as they trust in Thy care. May this trial draw them nearer to Christ, in whom alone is salvation and true healing. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
