daughter

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious daughter to our Heavenly Father. We stand in the gap for her, believing in the power of prayer and the healing touch of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Firstly, we rebuke the growth of this cyst in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that it is benign and command it to shrink and disappear, for the Word of God tells us in Matthew 18:18-19, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven. Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven." We agree together, believing that this cyst will not bring harm but will be gone, according to God's perfect will.

Father, we also pray for her marriage, that it would be a reflection of Christ's love for His church. May it be rooted in love, respect, and mutual submission, as outlined in Ephesians 5:22-33. Strengthen their bond, Lord, and help them to grow together in faith and love. May their home be a sanctuary of peace and joy, where Your presence is always welcomed and honored.

We lift up her final exams and presentation to You, Lord. Grant her wisdom, understanding, and clarity of mind. Help her to recall all that she has learned and to present her knowledge with confidence. We pray that You would calm her nerves and fill her with Your peace, as Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

Father, we also want to gently address the importance of coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace, as He Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." We encourage this daughter to always approach You in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).

Lord, we ask that You would draw this daughter closer to You, that she may know You more intimately and trust in Your perfect plan for her life. May she find her strength and hope in You, and may she always seek Your will above all else.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

It’s a lot to carry all at once, a health concern, the strain of final exams, and the weight of wanting things to be well in a marriage. So we’re glad you brought your daughter here, and we join you in holding each of these needs before the Lord.

Often what helps most in a season like this is simply knowing that others are faithfully praying. The knowledge that she is being lifted up by name can bring a steadier feeling, even when life feels overwhelming. You might even tell her that people she may never meet are asking God to be near her right now. That alone can be a quiet anchor.

As she moves toward her presentation and exams, a practical way you can stand with her is to offer to pray with her briefly before the big moments, even just a sentence or two asking for a clear mind and a calm heart. That shared moment can remind her she isn’t facing any of this alone.

We pray together now:

Father, thank you that you see this daughter completely, her body, her mind, her marriage. We ask that the cyst would prove benign and that you would remove it in your mercy. Please steady her as she prepares for exams, giving her clarity and recall when she needs it. Guard her marriage; draw her and her husband toward patience, kindness, and unity. Surround her with your peace that goes beyond understanding, and let her feel your nearness in every part of her life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I have been thinking of you ever since you set your daughter before the Lord, and it seems to me you have done exactly what those four friends did when they carried their paralyzed companion to Jesus. You have brought her to Him. You have laid her need right at His feet. And I want you to notice something that ought to steady your heart: when they could not get near the door for the crowd, they went up on the roof and broke through the tiles to let him down. That was bold. That was a faith that would not be put off. And you are doing the same thing now. You have not stopped at a closed door. You are still pressing through, still bringing this dear one before the Healer, and He knows it. Never think such persistence goes unnoticed in Heaven.

What strikes me about the story is not only their determination but what Jesus said first. Before He touched the man's body, He spoke to his soul: "Your sins are forgiven you." The physicians of the Law sitting by were scandalized, but our Lord knew that the deepest need is not always the one that shows. He always begins where the trouble is most hidden, and He works outward from there. So when you pray about that cyst and beg Him to make it benign and cause it to disappear, remember that His power is not a blunt instrument. It is as precise as a surgeon's scalpel. He knows the nature of that growth better than any scan can reveal, and He is able to command it to be gone as easily as He commanded the fever to leave Peter's mother-in-law. Remember her? She lay burning with a great fever, and Jesus simply touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up at once and began to serve. That is the sort of healing power that resides in Him still. It is not diminished. It is not distant. It is present to heal wherever there is need.

And I want you to consider that He came into Peter's house when the fever was there. He did not stand outside and send word that the house should be fumigated first. He walked right in where the sickness polluted the air, and His presence was the cure. You may feel that this worry about your daughter has polluted your peace, has filled your home with a heavy air. But Christ has come in. He does not wait for us to be free of trouble before He makes Himself at home with us. He enters the hospital and turns it into a palace. The very room where you have wept over this news is the room where He intends to show you His kindness.

Now about her marriage. I do not overlook that you have lifted that up alongside her health, and rightly so. A marriage is a living thing, and every living thing needs tending. Our Lord, who blessed the wedding at Cana with His first miracle, has not lost interest in the union of husband and wife. He who turned water into wine can certainly turn weariness into refreshment, distance into closeness, and ordinary affection into something deeper and steadier. Pray for her marriage as one who knows that the same hands which still the storm on Galilee can quiet the troubled waters of a home. He cares about the daily exchanges, the small frictions, the tired words at the end of a long day. He is not too great to notice these things. He is the God who numbers the stars and yet binds up the broken in heart. So a marriage that feels strained or under pressure is not beneath His concern. Entrust it to Him with confidence.

And her final exams and presentation, these loom large to a young person, and I will not dismiss them as small matters. The Lord who gave Bezalel skill to work in gold and silver for the tabernacle is the same Lord who can give your daughter clarity of mind and steadiness of nerve for her work. He can bring to her remembrance the things she has studied, and He can give her favor before her examiners. Do not think these are too ordinary for His notice. The God who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies has never found it beneath His dignity to help His children in their daily callings. Commit her mind to Him as freely as you commit her body.

But here is what I want to leave with you above all else: Christ's power in the Gospel is mainly a power to heal. He did not come with an avenging rod. His hands were not armed with destruction. He came on a kind errand, and all was mercy. Whatever answer He gives to these prayers, you may be sure it comes wrapped in that mercy. Sometimes He heals by removing the affliction outright. Other times He heals by giving such grace in the affliction that the soul becomes stronger than it ever was in health. But He heals. That is what He does. That is who He is. And you are not casting your daughter upon a reluctant Savior or pleading with a judge who must be persuaded. You are coming to One whose very nature it is to bind up and restore.

Take heart, then. The case is in His hands, and there are no hands so gentle, so skillful, or so mighty as His. I do not doubt that He will bring her through these deep waters and that you will yet praise Him for His goodness.

Our tender Lord, we bring this mother's daughter before You now. You see the tumor that has frightened them. You know its nature perfectly. Speak the word, we pray, and let it prove benign and vanish away. Look upon this marriage and pour fresh grace into it. Give this young woman clarity and composure for her studies and her public presentation. And give her mother peace, deep, settled peace, because she has placed everything into the hands of Him who never fails. We ask it all in the name of Jesus, whose touch still heals and whose voice still calms the storm. Amen.
