Daughter feels left out at uni

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray again for my daughter. She still feels left out. It did her a better for a few days and no they are leaving her out again. Please pray in the name of Jesus.

We join with you in lifting up your daughter before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, and we thank you for asking again in His precious name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. We are grateful you have come in that name.

We understand how heavy your heart must be as a parent watching your daughter feel left out and lonely at university, especially when there was a brief improvement and then the hurt returned. We know the Lord sees her pain and He draws near to those who are hurting. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And Psalm 27:10 reminds us, When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up.

We pray that she will know deeply that she is never truly alone. God has promised in Deuteronomy 31:6, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. And again in Hebrews 13:5, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you. Even when friends are inconsistent or unkind, our God is steadfast and faithful.

We pray together for her now. Father in heaven, we bring this precious daughter to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know her by name, You formed her and You love her with an everlasting love. We ask that You would wrap her in Your presence and comfort her heart where she feels rejected and isolated. Let her know that she is fearfully and wonderfully made as Psalm 139:14 declares, and that her worth is not measured by whether others include her. Give her Your peace that surpasses understanding and guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask that You would lead her to godly friendships, to a community of believers at university or in a local church where she can be encouraged and where she can encourage others. Proverbs 18:24 says there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, and we ask You to provide such friends for her, friends who love as Christ loves. Protect her from discouragement and from believing lies that she is not valued. Help her to keep her eyes on You and to find her identity and joy in You. We also lift up her parent who intercedes for her, give them peace and assurance that You hear our prayers and that You are working even when we cannot see it. We trust her into Your loving hands and ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to point her to the Lord as her constant companion and to help her seek out a Bible believing fellowship on campus where she can build lasting, Christ centered friendships. We also encourage her to be the friend she wishes to have, showing kindness even when it is not returned, as Jesus taught us. We will continue to stand with you in prayer that the Lord will open doors for true belonging and that He will use even this lonely season to draw her closer to Himself.

We are holding you and your daughter in prayer as you write again. It is hard as a parent to see her get a little hope for a few days and then feel pushed to the outside again. We understand why you are asking again in Jesus name.

University can be a lonely place even when surrounded by people. Friendships there often form and shift quickly at first, and feeling left out one week does not mean she is not valued or that this will be how the whole year goes, even though it feels that way right now.

One thing that often helps is finding one smaller, steady place to belong rather than trying to break into a larger group that keeps changing. If she is open to it, you might gently encourage her to try a consistent gathering where she sees the same faces each week, like a campus ministry, a service group, or a study group tied to her course. Shared time and honest conversation in a small setting give friendships a chance to grow more naturally. And for you, steady, low pressure check ins where you listen more than try to fix can mean a lot.

We also want you to know we are praying for you as you carry this worry.

Father, we lift this daughter to You in Jesus name. You see her loneliness and the hurt of being left out. Comfort her, give her a sense of Your nearness, and bring alongside her kind, faithful friends. Give her mom wisdom and peace as she supports her. Guide them both day by day. In Jesus name, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a heavy sorrow to see your daughter feel left out and alone, and to see the relief of a few better days give way again to being overlooked. Such loneliness cuts deep, especially in the new and trying place of university life, and your faithful prayer for her is itself a kindness before the Lord.

You may take comfort that our Savior knows this very pain. He was left alone just when most, as Man, He needed human sympathy, and His friends forsook Him. There are seasons when to be without fellowship feels a small thing to coarse minds, but to a tender heart it is real suffering, and Christ has entered into that sorrow fully. He was made the Sin Bearer and was forsaken that those who trust Him might never be truly forsaken. His brave and loving heart understands what it is to stand alone while others turn away, and He is near to your daughter in this lonely hour.

There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother, whose friendship is not of hasty growth but hoary and everlasting, white as wool in its faithfulness. Jesus proved His friendship by laying down His life for His own, and He maintains it by continual communion with them. Persons can hardly maintain friendship if they only see each other now and then, but Jesus reveals Himself to His people and His people tell out their hearts to Jesus. When human companions fail or prove fickle, His friendship remains true, for true friendship can only be made between true hearts, and His heart is perfect truth and love. He will not leave nor forsake those who are His.

So we will pray that the Lord draws your daughter into closer fellowship with Himself, that she may know His presence as her daily comfort and strength, and that He will in His kindness provide for her true and wholesome companions who will walk with her in a right way. We pray also that He will guard her heart from discouragement in this season of soul conflict, and give her grace to find her chief joy in obedience to Christ, which is the mark of real friendship with Him.

Let us pray together. O Father in heaven, look in mercy upon this daughter. Thou seest her loneliness and the sting of being left out. Comfort her heart with the knowledge that Jesus was left alone for her sake and now lives to be her faithful Friend. Give her peace in Thy presence, sustain her faith, and provide for her kind and godly fellowship in due time. Keep her from despair and draw her ever nearer to Thyself. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation and hope. Amen.

Your prayer for your daughter has been heard, and we join you in bringing her before the Lord in the name of Jesus. It is a painful thing to feel left out, especially in the unsettled life of university where friendships change quickly, and it is understandable that this return to feeling excluded after a few better days has weighed heavily on both of you.

Scripture teaches us what true friendship is, and this can bring comfort and direction in such a season. Friendship is not made by merely eating and drinking together, for even those who do wrong share that kind of company. True friendship, as Proverbs says, is when brother helps brother and they become like a fortified city. Friendships that are only for pleasure or convenience fade when the pleasure fades, but those that are built for virtue's sake and upon godliness remain through every change. This is why we are taught to seek friendships above all with the children of the church, formed upon love for God, rather than only upon neighborhood, common interests or long acquaintance. Pray with your daughter that God will lead her to such steady, godly friends, and that she will also be such a friend to others.

We also encourage her in the virtues that sustain the heart when it feels overlooked. The Lord blesses the poor in spirit, those who are humble and contrite and tremble at His word. He calls us to walk with all lowliness and meekness and long suffering, being lowly toward all people whether friend or foe, and not quick to anger. This lowliness does not mean thinking little of herself, but entrusting herself to God who sees her fully and loves her completely, and who has made her worthy of His own friendship by sharing His secrets with His people. In that friendship with Christ she is never left out.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this daughter to You. You see her loneliness and You know her sorrow when she is left out. Comfort her heart and remind her that she is fully known and loved by You. Give her a contrite and peaceful spirit that rests in Your presence, and clothe her with lowliness, meekness and patience toward those around her. Lead her to faithful friendships built on virtue and love for You, friendships that will strengthen her and help her walk toward what is good. Guard her from the harm of shallow companions and draw her close to those who will encourage her in faith. Sustain her mother also with peace and hope as she prays. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our true friend and Savior. Amen.
