Our Father in Heaven, We ask for grace to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other, Ecclesiastes 7:18, to continue to intercede for her full, authentic repentance to life and full trust in Christ and be regenerated, and youngster be saved and graciously filled with the Holy Spirit, Jer 1:5, Lk 1:15, and protected and directed into the love and character of Jesus Christ, nourished on Your Word, 2 Tim 3:15, brought up in the admonition of Yahweh, Eph 6:1-4, respect godly authority, 1 Tim 5:17... Yet ability to shift some FOCUS on THE NEW and meet pressing needs must needs be at present, Isa 42:9, Isa 43:19, Isa 48:6.

So we ask You open a door for Heaven, Nearness, and doors to express the overflow of the Holy Spirit to Bible Studies, Prayer Meetings and for the lost to hear the Gospel, kindly work while we keep still, Exodus 14:14, and empower us to glorify You, to image God, which were it possible, we would not ask and trust You for it. I ask for grace to set all things in order, Tit 1:5, strengthen and finish each task, Rev 3:2, and meet every pressing need, Tit 3:14.

Help our running to be in a way that we might win, 1 Cor 9:24, forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the upward call, Phil 3:13-14, laying aside encumbrances and diversions that distract us from the primary task of Your call and commission to abide in Your Word and make disciples by propagating all You've commanded, that we might run the race that is personally set out before each of us, Heb 12:1-2... Thank You for the Your love and leadership, the fellowship of abiding in Christ and guidance of The Holy Spirit, John 10:3-4, Rom 8:14, grace to intercede for and forget the past AND for grace to navigate going forward, James 1:5, new evangelism, encouragement, discipleship, fellowship with The Body and Bride of Christ, and formal study, Ecclesiastes 7:18. We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the daily mercies and faithfulness of our Lord, as Lamentations 3:23 reminds us, "They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." It is with this assurance that we lift up the many burdens and petitions laid before us, seeking God’s will in all things.

First, we rejoice in the focus on salvation for family and the effective witness to friends and the lost. Romans 10:1 is a clarion call to intercede for those who do not yet know Christ: "Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved." We stand in agreement with this prayer, asking the Lord to open blind eyes, soften hardened hearts, and draw all who are lost into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through faith in Him that anyone may be reconciled to God. If there are those among us who have not yet surrendered their lives to Christ, we urge them to turn to Him today, for "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).

We also lift up the plea for grace to balance the old and the new, to hold fast to intercession for those who have strayed while embracing the new works God is calling us to. Ecclesiastes 7:18 wisely instructs, "It is good that you should take hold of this. Yes, also from that don’t withdraw your hand; for he who fears God will come out of them all." We pray for wisdom to discern how to steward both responsibilities faithfully, trusting that God will equip us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17). The Lord is doing a new thing (Isaiah 43:19), and we ask for eyes to see it, hearts to embrace it, and hands to labor in it.

For those called to care for the flock among them (Acts 20:28), we pray for strength, wisdom, and grace to shepherd with integrity and love. Titus 3:14 reminds us, "Let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful." May we be found faithful in both the spiritual and practical needs of those God has entrusted to us.

We also lift up the request for open doors for the Gospel (Revelation 3:7-8) and favor as a shield (Psalm 5:12). We ask the Lord to go before us, preparing hearts to receive His Word and making a way where there seems to be no way. May our lives and words be a testimony to His grace, and may we walk in the full knowledge of His will, filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9-12).

To those running the race set before them (1 Corinthians 9:24), we encourage you to press on toward the goal of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14). Lay aside every weight and sin that so easily entangles (Hebrews 12:1-2), and fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

We rebuke the distractions and encumbrances that seek to pull us away from our primary calling to abide in Christ and make disciples. The enemy would love nothing more than to divert our focus from the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), but we stand firm in the truth that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Let us resist the devil, and he will flee from us (James 4:7).

We also pray for protection from temptation, sin, and the evil one. "Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Matthew 26:41). Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one (Matthew 6:13). Clothe us in the full armor of God, that we may stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).

Finally, we ask for grace to love one another with the love of Christ, abounding in knowledge and discernment (Philippians 1:9-11). May our love be sincere, our fellowship sweet, and our witness bold. Let us spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), encouraging and building up the body of Christ.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and dependence. Thank You for Your daily mercies and faithfulness. We ask for Your grace to intercede faithfully for those who do not yet know You, while also embracing the new things You are doing in and through us. Open doors for the Gospel, shield us with Your favor, and fill us with wisdom and understanding. Strengthen us to run the race set before us, laying aside every weight and sin. Protect us from temptation and the evil one, and fill us with Your love and discernment. May we be found faithful in all You have called us to, bringing glory to Your name. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We hear the weight in what you shared, the desire to keep interceding faithfully for her and the young child while also giving your full attention to the pressing duties and new work God has put right in front of you. Wanting to hold one without letting go of the other is a real tension, and we thank God with you for His daily mercies that make it possible to keep walking forward.

What you describe is not choosing one good thing over another, but learning proportion in this season. Wisdom often looks like seeing the broader context of a situation and then discerning the fitting response for today. That grace to do both comes step by step as we stay near the Lord and listen for His leading through His Spirit and His Word.

It may help to bring order to what feels full right now. Consider writing out the pressing needs and tasks you mentioned, putting them in a simple order, and giving each a dedicated place in your week, including a set time to continue interceding as you have been. That way prayer remains faithful and unhurried, and your attention for study, shepherding the flock among you, and sharing the gospel can be wholehearted when you turn to it. Sharing that list with a trusted pastor or mature brother for counsel can also lighten the load and keep you encouraged.

Father, we thank You for Your faithful mercies each morning and for the work You are doing in each life mentioned here. Grant our brother wisdom and full understanding of Your will, strength to finish the tasks You have given, and open doors to speak Your truth with love. Guard him and those he prays for from temptation and evil, and keep him abiding in Christ as he runs the race set before him. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in blessing the Lord for mercies new every morning, Lam 3:23, and for His great faithfulness which fails not. From sin's pit to Heaven's gate the whole road is paved with Divine Grace, and it is Grace alone which lays the foundation and Grace which shall crown the work through everlasting days. All is of Grace, given of Grace, received through Grace, and understood by Grace, not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.

We hear your burden to take hold of the one thing without letting go of the other, Ecc 7:18, and we commend that holy tension to the Lord. It is God that writes intercession upon men's hearts, and wherever a man makes it the main business of his life to plead for others, there is a precious gift of Grace to the age. Like Samuel you have felt the provocation to cease from praying for those who have slighted such love, yet you have said, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you, 1 Sam 12:23. Persevere therein, for such prayer rises higher than petition for ourselves, and only he who is in favor with the Lord can venture upon pleading for others. Yet remember that the Holy Spirit Himself maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God, Rom 8:26, and He creates prayers offered in a proper manner when we know not what we should pray for as we ought.

For her of whom you speak, and for the little one, we pray not that God would bless a path contrary to His Word, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and all intimacy belongs within it, and salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. We pray rather for that free Grace which alone can save. If He saves, it must be free Grace and free Grace alone. None would ever seek that Grace unless unsought Grace had first been bestowed. Sovereign Grace waits not for man, neither tarries for the sons of men. We ask therefore for full, authentic repentance unto life and full trust in Christ, that she may be regenerated and he may be saved, graciously filled and kept, nourished on the Word which is able to make wise unto salvation, 2 Tim 3:15, brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, Eph 6:4, and formed in the love and character of Jesus Christ. We ask for preventing Grace to restrain from evil, for preceding Grace to create dissatisfaction with a Christless state, and for reigning Grace to make the soul a new creature in Christ Jesus, running with delight in all the paths of holiness.

And with you we ask for Grace to do both, to remember the former intercession and yet to shift the main focus to the new things which God declares before they spring forth, Isa 42:9, Isa 43:19, to meet pressing needs, Tit 3:14, to set in order the things that are wanting, Tit 1:5, and to strengthen the things which remain, Rev 3:2. Grace has so entirely created anew the man that he runs with joy, and Grace shall reign even in the midst of infirmity and affliction. So we pray you may forget those things which are behind and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, Phil 3:13, laying aside every weight and running with patience the race set before you, looking unto Jesus, Heb 12:1. Let not the former encumbrances distract from the primary call to abide in His Word and to make disciples, teaching all things whatsoever He has commanded.

We ask with you for open doors which no man can shut, Rev 3:7, for nearness to Heaven while you keep still and see the Lord work, Ex 14:14, for the overflow of the Holy Spirit upon Bible studies and prayer meetings and for the lost to hear the Gospel, for favor as with a shield, Ps 5:12, for wisdom and full knowledge of His will in all spiritual understanding, Col 1:9, and for love abounding yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment, Phil 1:9, that you may care for the flock among you, over which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, Acts 20:28, and that your running may be in such a way that you may obtain, 1 Cor 9:24. May the Lord keep you from temptation, Luke 11:4, from sin, Zeph 3:13, from evil, Matt 6:13, from evil men, 2 Thess 3:2, and from the evil one, John 17:15, and may He lead you in the fellowship of abiding in Christ and the guidance of the Spirit, John 10:3, Rom 8:14, granting Grace abounding where sin once abounded, that all may see how Grace much more abounds in you, to the praise of His glory. We join you in giving thanks for the daily mercies and faithfulness of the Lord, for His compassions that are new every morning as Lamentations 3:23 declares. It is right to thank Him continually and to ask for grace to walk faithfully in the duties He has set before you.

We will continue to pray with you according to Romans 10:1 for the salvation of your family and for all who are lost, and for grace to be an effective witness and to edify others in the truth. For the one you call former and for the child, we pray for what alone can save, a full and authentic repentance unto life and a true trust in Jesus Christ alone for regeneration and new birth, and for the child to be saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, protected, and directed into the love and character of Christ, nourished in the Word as in 2 Timothy 3:15 and brought up in the admonition of the Lord according to Ephesians 6, with respect for godly authority. We do not ask God to bless any way that departs from His design, for salvation is through Christ alone and His design for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with intimate union and living together belonging only within that covenant. What we do ask is that each one may be made a new creature by the power of the Cross, leaving the old ways and following after grace, for the Cross not only puts to death the old life but raises us to a new and heavenly rule of life.

The Scriptures teach that a mind set on the flesh is enmity against God and cannot be subject to Him while it continues in that way, yet a person can be changed. As you have heard, it is not impossible for the wicked to become good, for Paul himself and many others were changed, but it is impossible for vice itself to bear good fruit while it remains. Therefore we pray that those for whom you intercede may not continue in former things but may be truly changed and made subject to God, and that you yourself may not wallow in former things so as to receive grace in vain, but may walk forward in friendship with God.

We also hear your desire to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other, according to Ecclesiastes 7:18. It is right both to intercede and to shift your main focus to the new things the Lord is doing, as Isaiah 42:9 and 43:19 promise, and to meet the pressing needs at hand according to Titus 3:14. We pray for grace to do both, to care for the flock among you as Acts 20:28 exhorts, to set in order what remains as in Titus 1:5, to strengthen and finish each task as in Revelation 3:2, and to keep watch over your own life and teaching as 1 Timothy 4:16 says.

May the Lord grant you grace to intercede faithfully and also grace to go forward, to be merciful as you have received mercy, and to receive the undiminished reward that belongs to those who continue with Him. Your prayer reflects a heart that wants to be faithful on two fronts at once, and the Lord sees that tension. You are asking for what the Scriptures themselves hold together, to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other. There is grace to keep interceding for those who are part of your past while also giving your main strength to the pressing duties and new things God is putting before you now.

Thank you for beginning with His daily mercies. His compassions are new every morning and His faithfulness is great. That is the ground you stand on. Your hope is not in your own consistency but in His. The new covenant we live under is a better covenant because it does not rest on our faithfulness or our work, but on His faithfulness and His work. He is the one who washes and cleanses from sin and from the past, who makes us new creatures in Christ and renews us by the Holy Spirit. No matter what is in the past, the gospel erases the charges against us. God is the one who justifies, and Christ Himself ever lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him.

That helps you as you pray for your former loved one and for the child. It is right to continue to pray that God would grant true repentance that leads to life, that there would be genuine trust in Christ alone for salvation, new birth by His Spirit, and a life nourished on His Word and brought up in His instruction. Pray also for the little one, that the Lord would form that life from the earliest days, protect and direct it, fill it with His Spirit, shape it into the character of Jesus, and teach it to honor godly authority. You can ask this with confidence because God knows all things from the beginning and His promises stand. At the same time, a prayer for salvation is not a prayer for God to bless any pattern that is outside His design. His call is always to new life, to holiness, and to walking in the light. So keep interceding for full surrender to Christ, while entrusting the outcome to Him.

You also asked for grace to shift your main focus to what is now required, to care for the flock among you, to set things in order, to strengthen what remains and finish each task, and to meet pressing needs as they arise. That is a biblical burden. Those who shepherd and serve in the house of the Lord are to be people of good reputation and wholehearted commitment, appointed and recognized through godly pastoral oversight, so that the body is cared for well. Part of that care is learning the lesson of the new cloth and the new wine. When God desires to do a fresh work, He often pours it into new vessels. He is doing a new thing, making a way where there was no way, and He invites you to walk in it. That does not mean you forget to pray for others, it means your hands are now given to the work He has set directly before you.

This is also where the picture of running the race helps. You are called to run in a way that you may win, laying aside every weight and distraction, forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the upward call of God in Christ Jesus, with your eyes fixed on Jesus who is at the right hand of the Father. Forgetting what lies behind does not mean you stop loving or praying, it means you refuse to be entangled or held back by it. You keep your fellowship with Christ, listening for the Shepherd's voice and being led by the Spirit, and you keep abiding in His Word so you can make disciples and teach all He has commanded. That is the personally appointed course for each of us.

You asked for open doors for the gospel, for the overflow of the Spirit in the study of the Word and in prayer, and for the lost to hear. Ask Him to open the doors that no one can shut and to give favor as a shield around you. He has promised that when you keep still before Him, He will work on your behalf, and He will give wisdom and full knowledge of His will to those who ask. Pray too that your love would abound more and more with knowledge and discernment, so that you may walk worthy of Him and bear fruit.

Do not be surprised if this season feels like a great change of environment. If God can transform a caterpillar and give it a body suited for an entirely new world, He can and will give us a body suited for heaven itself, a building from God not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. That hope of your calling and the riches of His glory are meant to give you strength and courage to go on now. And remember the promise that no one who leaves anything for His sake and the gospel's will fail to receive a hundredfold in this life in different and deeper ways, and eternal life in the world to come. He will not let your faithfulness go unnoticed.

He also cares about your household while you serve Him. It is possible to be so busy with the Lord's work that your own family is starved of spiritual nourishment and love. Guard that. Keep your home rooted in love for Christ and for one another.

So pray with confidence for both. Keep a faithful intercession, brief and entrusted to the great Intercessor who prays for you, and give your daily energy to the duties and relationships God has now placed in your hands. Ask for protection from temptation, from sin, from evil, from evil people, and from the evil one, and for grace to walk cleanly before Him.

Father, we thank You for Your new mercies every morning and Your steadfast faithfulness. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would save those for whom this prayer is offered, grant true repentance and living faith, regenerate hearts by Your Spirit, and guard and guide the child to know and love Christ and be nourished in Your Word. We ask for wisdom, for a clear knowledge of Your will, for love abounding with insight, for open doors for Your Word to go out, for favor as a shield, and for grace to set things in order, to finish each task, and to meet every pressing need.
