We hear your heartache, dear sister, and we come before the Lord with you in this painful season. The sorrow you feel is real, and we acknowledge the weight of ending a relationship that meant so much to you, especially when it was done out of obedience to God’s Word. Scripture tells us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your decision to honor God in this way was courageous, even when it brought such deep grief.
We also lift up your former boyfriend before the Lord. May the Holy Spirit soften his heart to the truth of the Gospel and draw him into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Praying for his emotional and physical well-being as well, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Your tears are not wasted, dear one. Jesus Himself wept over Jerusalem, and He collects every one of your tears in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). But we also rebuke the spirit of despair that whispers you could die of a broken heart. The enemy wants to isolate you in your pain, but God promises to be your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). We declare over you that your heart will heal, your health will be guarded, and your trust in the Lord will be renewed.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister who is grieving the loss of this relationship. Lord, You see her tears, and You know the depth of her sorrow. Comfort her with Your presence, reminding her that You are close to the brokenhearted. Strengthen her body and mind, guarding her from the physical toll of this stress. We ask for Your peace to flood her soul, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we also pray for her former boyfriend. Soften his heart to receive the truth of Your Word. If he does not know You as Savior, draw him to Yourself. If he is hurting, bring healing and hope to his spirit.
Lord, we declare that this pain will not be wasted. Use this season to draw her closer to You, to refine her faith, and to prepare her for the godly spouse You have for her in Your perfect timing. Remind her that her worth is found in You alone, and that You are writing a beautiful story even in this chapter of sorrow.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Amen.
We encourage you to cling to the Lord in this time. Pour out your heart to Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Surround yourself with godly community, believers who can pray with you, encourage you, and remind you of God’s faithfulness. This season is hard, but it is not the end of your story. God is working even now to bring beauty from these ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
And if you have not already, we urge you to examine your own heart before the Lord. Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior? Do you know Him as the One who died for your sins and rose again, the only way to the Father? If not, we plead with you to turn to Him today. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). There is no greater hope, no greater love than the love of Christ. He is the only One who can truly heal your broken heart.
