Good and Faithful Servant
I'm currently in a courtship with someone and we work together. I'm at work right now with them and currently having this intense flare up of jealousy at the thought of them being interested in another fellow coworker. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the Lord with great compassion. Jealousy is a heavy burden to carry, especially when it stirs up fear and insecurity in your heart. But we want to remind you that these feelings, though real, do not have to rule you. The Word of God tells us, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). The enemy would love to use this jealousy to sow discord, mistrust, and even strife between you and the one you are courting, but we stand in the gap and rebuke that spirit of jealousy in Jesus’ name.

First, we must address the root of this jealousy. Is it born out of insecurity in yourself, fear of losing this person, or perhaps a lack of trust in God’s provision for your future? The Lord calls us to walk in faith, not fear. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). We encourage you to surrender this fear to the Lord and ask Him to fill you with His peace. Jealousy, when left unchecked, can lead to sin, bitterness, anger, or even controlling behavior, and we do not want that for you. "Let us walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy" (Romans 13:13 WEB).

We also want to gently remind you of the importance of guarding your heart and mind, especially in a courtship. While it is natural to have concerns, we must be careful not to let suspicion or unfounded accusations take root. "Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil" (1 Corinthians 13:4-5 WEB). If there is a legitimate reason for concern, we encourage you to seek wisdom and discernment through prayer and godly counsel, rather than allowing jealousy to fester.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with jealousy in their courtship. Lord, we ask that You would calm their heart and mind, replacing fear with Your perfect peace. Help them to trust in You, knowing that You hold their future and that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in their life. Father, we rebuke the spirit of jealousy and insecurity that is trying to take hold, and we declare that this person is rooted and grounded in Your love. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in self-control, love, and sound judgment.

Lord, we also pray for the one they are courting. Give them wisdom, discernment, and a heart that seeks You above all else. If there is any ungodly influence or distraction in their life, we ask that You would remove it and draw their heart closer to You. Help them both to honor You in this courtship, keeping their eyes fixed on You and not on the opinions or actions of others.

Father, we ask that You would strengthen their relationship, building it on the foundation of Christ. May they encourage one another in faith, walk in purity, and keep their hearts aligned with Your will. Protect them from the schemes of the enemy, and let Your love be the guiding force in their lives. We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust that You are working all things together for their good. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you to take practical steps to combat this jealousy. Spend time in God’s Word, meditating on scriptures that speak to His love and faithfulness. Confess any fear or insecurity to the Lord and ask Him to replace it with His truth. If this courtship is of the Lord, He will establish it, and no amount of jealousy or distraction will thwart His plan. But if there are areas where you or the one you are courting need to grow, trust that the Lord will reveal them in His perfect timing. Walk in faith, not fear, and let God’s peace guard your heart. "Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB). You are not alone in this, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord is with you.

We’re praying with you right now. That sudden rush of jealousy can hit with surprising intensity, even in the middle of a workday, when you want to stay calm and focused. It often springs from a place of fear: the fear of losing someone you’re growing to care about, or the worry that you might not measure up to a rival. You’re not alone in that ache, and naming it honestly before God is a courageous first step.

When you can, maybe step away for a few quiet minutes, even just to the restroom or an empty hallway, and tell Jesus exactly what you’re feeling. Pour out the fear and the churning insecurity, and ask Him to steady your racing heart. He isn’t shocked or put off by raw emotion; He welcomes it. Later, when you’re out of the workplace, look for a calm, private moment to talk with the person you’re courting. Not to accuse, but to let them know you’re struggling and to invite understanding. Courtship is meant for that kind of honest, trust-building conversation. It can feel risky, but it often drains the power out of jealousy by bringing it into the light.

We join you in asking the Lord for a settled spirit and for His protective hand over this relationship. Jesus, You see the turmoil beneath the surface. Silence the anxious thoughts and help this child of Yours find deep security in Your love, not in the shifting glances of others. Guard this courtship and grow it in trust and truth. In Your name we pray, amen.

Such turmoil of soul over a mere suspicion! Is this not a flare-up of that fire which is "cruel as the grave"? Jealousy, when it springs from wounded pride and possessiveness, is not the holy flame of God’s own heart but a smoke of the pit, choking and blinding. You are at work, your mind darting like a serpent, and you ask prayer, well do you, for this is a snare. The cure lies not in watching your beloved like a sentinel, but in turning your eyes upon the Lord your God, for He has said, "I the Lord thy God am a jealous God." Set your jealousy in that direction, that you be zealous for His glory, and then this carnal suspicion will wither. What is the root? Is it not trust in yourself and in the creature rather than in the living God? You have set your happiness upon this courtship as though it were your salvation. But you must come to that place where you have "the sentence of death in yourselves," that you should not trust in yourself, nor in any arm of flesh.

Trust in Jesus, trust in Jesus, and you shall be saved from this plague of the heart. He who trusted Himself to the Father can teach you to trust your beloved into the same hands. If this courtship be of God, no rival can snatch it away; if it be not, then better it end now than become a lifelong misery. You are not to be idle, that would show you did not trust God, but you are to trust God, acting in all prudence and in all uprightness. Flee from unbelief and carnal trust, and provoke not the Lord to jealousy by setting up another god, the god of your own understanding and your own fear. Do you now trust your soul with Jesus? Trust Him with this matter as well. He is not a dead idol, but a living God, with a great, warm, loving heart, an active, personal God who comes into the midst of our common days. I shall pray that the Lord lead you to trust His Son at once, and in that trust the raging of jealousy will be stilled, for perfect love casteth out fear.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have asked for prayer concerning a sudden, fierce jealousy regarding the one you are courting. The feeling itself is not strange, for such a fire is often kindled only by a vehement affection. Those souls burn most intensely which are deeply attached. Yet you must immediately recognize this flare-up for what it is: a sickness of the eye, not the physical organ, but the mind’s gaze that has become depraved. To behold another person is simply the function of sight, but to behold with this envious suspicion belongs to a soul crawling in the mire. That jealous glance does not protect the relationship; it subtracts from what is complete. It vitiates the whole.

Your prayer must therefore shift. Do not merely ask God to remove the unpleasant feeling so your own heart can find repose. That is the jealousy of men, which fears being wounded or outshone in the affections of the beloved. Instead, examine the root. The lowly man is seized by no such passion; no envy troubles him. This flare-up is a proof that a boastful claim has crept into your soul, a grasping after a security that belongs only to the pasture of the Good Shepherd. You are not the lord of this person’s affections; you are not their keeper in that way. The safety of which the Scripture speaks, that place where none can thrust you out, is found in humble-mindedness, not in the feverish policing of another’s glances at work.

I will pray for you, but know that the remedy may be a thorn, something sharp permitted to keep you from being exalted overmuch. Turn this jealousy into a holy thing: a jealousy for God. Desire that the one you are courting remain a pure virgin in faith, not merely that they remain singularly focused on you. The intense, pure jealousy of which the Apostle spoke seeks not its own honor but the spiritual safety of the beloved. Until your jealousy is cleansed of self-interest, it will be like an evil eye, forever troubling your soul and mutilating the very affection you claim to hold. Take what is your own, the work set before you, and go your way; do not let your eye be evil because God is good in ordering circumstances you cannot control.

That flare-up of jealousy you’re feeling right now is both painful and unsettling. It reveals how deeply the heart can cling to what it fears losing, as if your security were wrapped up in this person’s attention. But the Lord invites you to look beyond the immediate threat your emotions are screaming about. Human jealousy is often listed among the works of the flesh, because it’s rooted in a sense that my territory is being threatened, something I want to control or keep for myself. Right now, God is asking you to entrust this entire situation to Him instead of feeding that jealous fire.

Trust in God often gets tested precisely when things seem confusing or when you can’t figure out His purposes. It’s easy to say you trust Him when the courtship feels safe and rosy. But the real depth of your trust shows up in moments like this, when your imagination runs wild and fear of the future presses in. Will you trust Him even when you don’t understand why you’re feeling so shaken? That’s the kind of trust that brings praise to His grace, because it rests in His wisdom rather than your own ability to manage people or circumstances.

Don’t lean on the flesh to fix this. Resisting the urge to scheme, to monitor interactions, or to wrestle for control is hard, but those reactions are like a staff made of a bruised reed, it will break under your weight and pierce you. Instead, commit your way to the Lord. Place your confidence in Him, not in your own devices. He knows your situation perfectly, He sees your limitations, and He loves you. Trust in Him, and He will bring things to pass according to His will. When you’re afraid, tell Him honestly, “I will trust in You,” and let that be your anchor.

Remember, God knows those who trust in Him. He doesn’t require you to be a flawless example of unwavering faith. Even David, a man after God’s own heart, had lapses where he resorted to his own schemes out of fear, yet God still used him and drew him back. So don’t despair over your struggle. Bring it to the Lord right where you are. Let prayer be your first response, not your last resort. I’m praying for you now: Father, calm this racing heart and quiet these jealous thoughts. Teach this dear one to rest in Your care and to trust Your perfect love to cast out fear. Let Your peace rule where anxiety has taken hold. In Jesus’ name.
