Court judge judgement

This sudden judgment and the one day you have been given to respond is a heavy burden, especially when you did not receive the paperwork from June 30. It is right to bring this urgently to the Lord and also to act quickly in the practical ways that are open to you.

Scripture does not teach that you must passively accept a legal process when you have lawful means to seek truth and fairness. When disputes are within the church, believers are called to seek wisdom and reconciliation there, but when you are dealing with civil courts and authorities outside the church, it is not wrong to use the legal recourse that the law provides. The apostle Paul himself, when he saw political manipulation working against him, exercised his rights as a citizen and made his appeal to the higher authority so that his case could be heard properly. In the same way, you should use every lawful and honest means available to you right now. Seek qualified legal help immediately, even legal aid if you cannot afford counsel, go to the clerk of the court first thing, explain in writing that you were never served, ask how to file an immediate response or request for reconsideration or stay, and keep copies of everything.

Human courts do their best but human judgment is often imperfect. We do not always know motives or all the facts, and our perceptions can be faulty. The judgment of God, however, is always according to truth and always righteous. He sees what is hidden, He knows your heart and the facts of what happened with the paperwork, and no one escapes His notice. That can be a comfort, because the same God who will one day judge all people in righteousness is also the God who knows how to deliver those who are His. He delights in mercy more than in judgment and He invites us to meet Him in mercy through Jesus Christ. Being sheltered by the cross does not mean we will not face difficulty in this life, but it does mean you are not alone in this courtroom and you can ask Him to let truth come to light.

I am praying for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this dear one to You. You see the confusion and fear over this judgment and this short deadline. You know whether the notice was never received and all the details that the court has not yet heard. I ask for Your mercy to be evident. Give wisdom to know what to do and strength to do it quickly, provide the right help and favor with those in authority, and let what is true be clearly known. Quiet the heart with Your peace, show the way forward step by step, and let this situation be resolved in a way that is honest and just. Above all, draw this heart close to You, cover this life with the mercy found only in Christ, and be near as deliverer and helper. Amen.

If you have not already, write down a clear timeline of what happened, when you learned of the judgment, and that you did not receive service, and bring that with any court papers and identification when you seek help. Keep praying and keep moving on the practical steps God has placed before you, trusting that He sees and judges according to truth.
