Your prayer for your son is heard, and your love for him as you bring his breathing and health before the Father in the name of Jesus is precious. Thank you for trusting us to pray with you.
Scripture gives us strong confidence to bring physical needs to Jesus. In Galilee, when a nobleman came to Jesus about his very sick son, Jesus simply spoke the word, and though the boy was many miles away, the Spirit of God worked and the son was healed. Later in Jerusalem by the sheep market at the pool called Bethesda with its five porches, Jesus again showed His power to heal. These accounts were written so that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that by believing we might have life in His name.
Jesus Himself said that the Son can do nothing on His own, but does what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son does in the same way. His works are the works of God, done in complete harmony with the Father. The Father has entrusted all judgment to the Son so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father, and the Son gives life to whom He wills. This is who we are praying to, not a distant power, but the Son of God who shares the Father's heart and authority.
The ministry of Jesus on earth was marked by preaching, teaching, and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. We can and should trust Him for physical healing as well as spiritual healing. At the same time, there is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed instantly and others experience a more gradual process. Even the gradual processes of healing that God has built into our bodies are divine, because God created those processes. Every true healing, whether sudden or step by step, is from Him, and He also brings healing to our minds and hearts as we trust Him.
So we join you in praying for your son. Father, in the name of Jesus Your Son, we lift up this loved son to You. You know his lungs, his airways, and every breath he takes. We ask for Your healing touch upon his COPD and asthma. Please reduce and remove inflammation, cleanse any infection, and strengthen his immune system to fight off illness and viruses. Give him ease in breathing, especially in the heat, and grant him rest and comfort. We trust Your power and Your love, and we ask You to work according to Your perfect will, giving life and health as only You can. We thank You for all You have done and all You will do, and we place him fully in Your caring hands. Amen.
