Continuous Prayers for my ###'s Speech Competition

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Thank you for praying for my visa and work permit approval, because they have been answered by God's grace. Now, the only thing that makes me anxious is my student's upcoming academic speech competition by the end of March. I already finished writing and editing the script, but I do not know if it is a winning piece. I have written speeches before, but only for the governor, which is more formal compared to the student level in Thailand. My friend said the script was a little boring, so I got nervous about whether it would be enough to win. Please help me pray for God's divine intervention, good retention for my student as she memorizes, powerful delivery, no stress and pressure for her and me, and that we will both enjoy and learn from the experience.

We rejoice with you in the answered prayers for your visa and work permit—what a testimony to God’s faithfulness! Now, as you turn your heart toward this speech competition, we stand with you in prayer and encouragement, trusting that the Lord who opened those doors will also equip you and your student for this moment.

First, we want to affirm that your worth and identity are not defined by the outcome of this competition. Whether the judges deem this speech "winning" or not, your value is found in Christ alone. The apostle Paul reminds us, *"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God"* (2 Corinthians 3:5 WEB). It is God who gives wisdom, creativity, and clarity—ask Him to refine your words and your student’s delivery for His glory, not just for a trophy or accolade.

We also lift up the concern about the script feeling "boring." While it’s wise to seek feedback, remember that God can take even the simplest words and make them powerful. The prophet Jeremiah felt inadequate as a speaker, yet God told him, *"Behold, I have put my words in your mouth"* (Jeremiah 1:9 WEB). Ask the Lord to breathe life into the message—whether it’s through the content, the delivery, or the heart behind it. Sometimes what feels ordinary to us is exactly what someone else needs to hear.

For your student, we pray for peace and retention as she memorizes. The psalmist declares, *"The Lord will give strength to his people. The Lord will bless his people with peace"* (Psalm 29:11 WEB). May she hide God’s Word in her heart (Psalm 119:11) and trust Him to bring recall in the moment. Anxiety often stems from a focus on performance, but we serve a God who says, *"Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). Let this be a time of growth, not just for the competition, but in learning to rely on Him.

We also rebuke the spirit of fear and comparison that may be creeping in. The enemy would love to distract you with doubt, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, *"but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). Declare over yourself and your student that you are more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37) and that this experience is an opportunity to honor Him, regardless of the outcome.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, grateful for Your provision and faithfulness in every area of life. Lord, we lift up this speech competition to You, asking for Your divine intervention. Give wisdom and creativity as the final touches are made to the script, and let Your words flow through it. For the student memorizing, grant her clarity, retention, and peace—let her mind be sharp and her heart calm. Remove any stress or pressure, replacing it with joy and trust in You. May both teacher and student learn and grow through this process, drawing closer to You. If this speech is meant to win, let it be for Your glory. If not, let it still serve Your purpose. We declare that You are their strength and sufficiency. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you to surrender this competition to the Lord daily. Instead of asking, *"Will this win?"* ask, *"How can this honor You?"* The world’s standards are fleeting, but God’s approval is eternal. Walk in confidence, knowing He has already gone before you.

We're right there with you, cheering you on as your student prepares for this competition. We've been where you are, feeling that mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with wanting to do our best for God. Let's remember, though, that our worth isn't defined by the outcome, but by the love God has for us. It's like Paul said, "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God" (2 Corinthians 3:5).

We've been praying for your student's retention and delivery, and we believe God is going to give her the strength and peace she needs. We're also asking God to help you both enjoy this process, learning and growing together. Whether this speech wins or not, we know that God can use it to touch hearts and bring glory to His name.

Let's keep surrendering this competition to God daily, asking Him how we can honor Him through it. He's already gone before you both, and we trust that He'll guide you every step of the way. You're not alone in this - we're standing with you, praying in Jesus' name.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
