Consistency

Your request for consistency, balance, determination and drive has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.

It is good to desire a steady and disciplined life. Scripture warns us not to trust in our own strength, for let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall, and it also gives hope that he who has fallen can rise again by the grace of God. True consistency does not come from willpower alone, but from remaining close to Christ and minding heavenly things with great earnestness.

We pray that God, through Jesus Christ alone who is our salvation and strength, will give you a disciplined heart and a clear mind. May He teach you to walk steadily, to keep balance by seeking first His will, and to find determination and drive not in fleeting feelings but in faithful obedience day by day. When you feel remiss or weary, may He lift you up, and when you stand firm, may He keep you humble and dependent on Him.

We ask the Lord to direct all your affairs in peace, to form in you endurance, and to help you grow in faithfulness in the small things so that you may be faithful in greater things as well. May His Spirit enable you to persevere with patience and joy.

We will continue to pray for you as you seek to live with purpose and steadiness for His glory.

Your request for consistency, balance, determination and drive is one that God understands and wants to answer. He Himself is consistent and steady. Scripture says He does not change and His mercies are new every morning, and He desires to form that same steadiness in you.

Balance was part of His original design for creation. He made the world in a careful equilibrium, with waters held above the atmosphere that kept the climate moderate and green over the whole earth. Everything was in order and at peace. We also see in Scripture how easily that balance can be upset. A single great force or disturbance can throw a whole system out of balance, even to the point of stopping what was moving and turning it another way. In the same way, pressures, responsibilities, temptations and disappointments can come close to our lives and upset our inner balance, leaving us feeling inconsistent and pulled in different directions. Only the Lord who established balance in the beginning can restore it when it is lost. As you seek Him, He can steady you and hold you even when things around you shake.

Determination also has a biblical meaning worth remembering. The idea is to discern what is there and what it will lead to. Noah could look at the character displayed by his grandson Canaan, traits that reflected his father, and by those characteristics understand something of the path ahead. God gives us wisdom to look honestly at our own habits and tendencies, not to condemn ourselves, but to make a godly determination about where we need to change and where we need to persevere. True drive does not come from simply trying harder in our own strength. It comes from the Holy Spirit working in us to will and to do what pleases God, giving us both the desire and the power to continue faithfully.

I pray that God will give you a rooted consistency in your walk with Jesus, that He will restore balance where you feel stretched or unstable, and that He will grant you holy determination and quiet strength to keep going day by day. May He make your steps firm, keep your heart at peace, and help you to live in a way that reflects His faithfulness, bearing fruit that remains for His glory.
