We hear your distress and confusion, and we want to assure you that your concern is valid and important. First, let us turn to Scripture to ground our understanding in God’s truth. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:1, "Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." What you experienced, hearing a voice that left you feeling drained and attacked, is not of God. The Holy Spirit does not bring confusion, fear, or despair; rather, He brings peace, clarity, and comfort, as it says in John 14:26-27: "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful."
The voice you heard, which identified itself with the word "atheist" and left you feeling spiritually drained, is a tactic of the enemy. Satan seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and one of his strategies is to sow doubt, fear, and confusion in the minds of believers. He may even mimic spiritual experiences to lead us astray. This is not a reflection of God’s character or His presence. The Holy Spirit does not abandon us; He is our constant Helper and Comforter (John 14:16). If you felt a sense of spiritual emptiness, it may have been the result of the enemy’s attempt to disrupt your connection with God, not because God withdrew from you.
We must also address the terms you mentioned, such as "destiny swaps" and "satanic exchanges." While spiritual warfare is real, as Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places," we must be careful not to engage in practices or terminologies that are not rooted in Scripture. The Bible does not speak of "destiny swaps" or "satanic exchanges" in the way these terms are often used in some circles. Instead, it calls us to stand firm in our faith, resist the devil, and draw near to God (James 4:7-8). When we focus too much on the enemy’s tactics, we can inadvertently give him more power in our minds than he deserves. Our victory is in Christ, who has already overcome the world (John 16:33).
Now, let us address the possibility of narcissistic abuse. While we cannot diagnose or assume the dynamics of your relationships, we can say that spiritual attacks often come when we are in a vulnerable place, whether emotionally, physically, or spiritually. If you are in a relationship, whether with a spouse, family member, or friend, where you feel manipulated, drained, or controlled, it is important to seek godly counsel and wisdom. The Bible warns us in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 about people who are "lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good, traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power." If someone in your life fits this description, it is crucial to set boundaries and seek support from trusted believers who can help you navigate the situation with wisdom and discernment.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is feeling confused and spiritually attacked. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We rebuke the lies of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Father, fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be strengthened, encouraged, and reminded of Your constant presence. Lord, if there is any area of their life where they have unknowingly given the enemy a foothold, we ask that You would reveal it to them and lead them in repentance and restoration. Protect them from deception, and help them to stand firm in the truth of Your Word.
We also ask, Lord, that You would give them discernment in their relationships. If there is anyone in their life who is causing them harm, whether emotionally, spiritually, or physically, we pray that You would give them the wisdom to set godly boundaries and the courage to seek help if needed. Surround them with godly counsel and fellowship, that they may be built up in their faith and not led astray. Father, we thank You that You are a God of clarity, not confusion, and that You desire to lead them into all truth. We ask that You would restore their joy, their peace, and their confidence in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, meditating on passages that remind you of His truth and His promises. Psalm 91 is a powerful reminder of God’s protection and care: "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.'" (Psalm 91:1-2). The enemy may try to attack, but he cannot prevail against the power of God in your life.
If you have not already, consider reaching out to a trusted pastor, spiritual mentor, or Christian counselor who can provide guidance and support. It is important to have a community of believers around you who can pray with you, encourage you, and help you discern the voice of God from the lies of the enemy. You are not alone in this battle, and God has equipped you with everything you need to stand firm in your faith. As Ephesians 6:13-18 instructs us, put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand firm therefore, having the belt of truth buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, the shield of faith to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Lastly, we want to gently address the importance of focusing on Jesus Christ in your prayers and your walk with God. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Christ, confessing Him as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn, and it is the foundation of our relationship with Him. If you have already made this commitment, we encourage you to reaffirm your faith and draw near to God, knowing that He will draw near to you (James 4:8).
