We understand that you are struggling with alcohol and smoking, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this battle. First and foremost, we want to remind you that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to honor God with our bodies. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB, "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
We also want to remind you that God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. He is the only one that can provide freedom from addiction and give you victory over your struggles. We need to call on His name without holding back. He is able to give you victory over your struggles. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Let us pray together for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling with alcohol and smoking. Lord, we know that these addictions are not Your will for their life, and we ask that You would set them free from these chains. Give them the strength and courage to resist the temptations that come their way, and help them to honor their body as a temple of the Holy Spirit.
We also ask that You would forgive them of any times they have fallen short in this area, and that You would cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for providing a way of escape from temptation. Help them to rely on Your strength and not their own, and to trust in You completely.
We pray this request in the name of Jesus. We also pray that they have a faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior for salvation. If they have not asked Jesus to come into their heart and be their Lord and Savior, then they need to ask for this forgiveness of their sins, to turn away from their sins, and to receive Jesus in faith. We also pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by the words of Philippians 4:13 WEB, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Trust in the Lord and call on Him to help you overcome these struggles. We are here for you, and we believe that God has a path of victory for you. Do not give up the fight.
