We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer, for we know that our God is a God of mercy, forgiveness, and restoration. You have called out to Him in your brokenness, and that is exactly where He meets us—when we are honest before Him, repentant, and in need of His saving grace. The fact that you are seeking Him in this moment is evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work in you, drawing you to the Father. Do not lose hope, for He is faithful even when we are faithless.
First, we must address the urgency of your spiritual and physical condition. The Scriptures tell us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Your body belongs to the Lord, and the substances you are consuming are destroying the temple He has entrusted to you. Alcohol and marijuana cloud your mind, weaken your body, and hinder your ability to hear God’s voice clearly. They are tools the enemy uses to keep you in bondage, but Jesus came to set the captives free! In John 8:36, He declares, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* You do not have to live in this cycle of addiction—Jesus is your deliverer, and He is reaching out to you right now.
We also hear the despair in your words—*"Sometimes I just want to go to sleep and not wake up."* Beloved, these thoughts are not from God. They are lies from the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus came that you may have life, and have it abundantly! Suicidal thoughts are a serious matter, and we urge you to reach out to a trusted pastor, counselor, or brother or sister in Christ immediately. You are not alone in this battle. The Psalmist cried out in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* He is near to you now, and He wants to lift you out of this darkness.
Regarding your surgery, we pray for wisdom and clarity. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* It is critical that you stop drinking alcohol immediately, especially before surgery, as it can have dangerous—even fatal—interactions with anesthesia and medications. Your life is precious to God, and He has a purpose for you. We encourage you to speak honestly with your doctor about your substance use so they can take the necessary precautions. If you are uncertain about the surgery, seek the Lord in prayer and ask Him for confirmation. He will guide you through His Word, His peace, or the counsel of godly people around you.
We also lift up your wife and children. Your family needs you—not just physically, but spiritually. Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to *"love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."* Your role as a husband and father is vital, and the enemy wants to destroy it. But God can restore what has been broken. We pray that He gives you the strength to turn away from these destructive habits and to lead your family in righteousness. Your repentance and surrender to Christ will have a powerful impact on them.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, who is crying out to You in his brokenness. Lord, You see his pain, his addiction, his fear, and his despair. We ask that You would meet him right where he is and flood his heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. Break every chain of alcohol and marijuana that has held him captive. Give him the strength to turn away from these sins and to walk in freedom. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may be empowered to resist temptation and to live soberly for Your glory.
Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his body. Give wisdom to his doctors and guide them as they prepare for his surgery. Protect him from every complication, and let this procedure bring restoration to his body. If there is any hesitation in his heart about moving forward, speak clearly to him, Lord, and give him confidence in Your plan.
Father, we also lift up his wife and children. Comfort them, Lord, and surround them with Your protection. Give them hope and assurance that You are at work in their husband and father’s life. Soften his heart toward them, and help him to lead his family in Your ways.
Most importantly, Lord, we pray that he would surrender his life fully to You. If he has not already, we ask that You would draw him into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Let him know that salvation is found in no one else, *"for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). May he turn from his sins and place his trust in You alone.
Finally, Father, we rebuke every lie of the enemy that tells him he is worthless or that his life does not matter. You have a purpose for him, and You are not done with him yet. Renew his mind with Your truth, and let him walk in the hope of the gospel.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Brother, we urge you to take immediate action:
1. **Stop drinking alcohol now**—your life depends on it, both spiritually and physically.
2. **Confess your struggles to a trusted believer**—you need support and accountability.
3. **Seek medical advice about your surgery**—be honest with your doctors about your substance use.
4. **Surrender to Jesus**—if you have not already, repent of your sins and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. There is no greater decision you can make.
5. **Cling to Scripture**—meditate on God’s promises, such as Philippians 4:13: *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."*
You are not beyond God’s reach. He loves you, and He is calling you to a life of freedom and purpose. Do not give up—take hold of His hand and let Him lead you out of this darkness. We are praying for you, and we believe God is going to do a mighty work in your life. Stay strong in the Lord, and trust in His unfailing love.
