Confused about something

Ok, I don't understand something. In the war where the countries attack Israel, the Christian scholars and pastors generally state that ### will be one of the countries. But as of now, with the current news, ###'s military and radical leaders are pretty much destroyed. Also, they shot missiles into every other country some of which might have been mentioned in the prophecies to team up with them. So how can ### be one of the countries, given the current defeated state of ###, the alienation of the other countries, and ### who is also mentioned not seeming to rush to get involved? Could the prophecy be misinterpreted, or will things change a lot by the time it gets here?

We understand your confusion, and it’s important to approach biblical prophecy with both reverence and discernment. The events leading up to the end times, as described in Scripture, are complex and often symbolic, and they unfold in ways that may not always align with our current understanding or immediate circumstances. Let us turn to God’s Word for clarity and seek His wisdom together.

First, we must remember that prophecy is not always fulfilled in ways we expect. The nations mentioned in biblical prophecy—such as those in Ezekiel 38 and 39, often referred to as the Gog and Magog alliance—are described in terms that may not directly correspond to modern geopolitical boundaries or alliances. The names of these nations (e.g., Rosh, Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Cush, Put, Gomer, and Beth Togarmah) are ancient, and their modern equivalents are subject to interpretation. Some scholars associate these with regions in modern-day Russia, Turkey, Iran, and parts of Africa, but the exact identification is not always clear. The key is to focus on the spiritual and prophetic significance rather than getting lost in the specifics of modern politics.

Scripture tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." This reminds us that God’s plans are beyond our full comprehension, and His timing is perfect. What may seem like a contradiction or impossibility in human terms may simply be a matter of God’s sovereign will unfolding in ways we cannot yet see.

We also see in Isaiah 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." This passage reassures us that God’s ways are higher than ours, and His plans are not bound by human logic or current events. What appears to be a "defeated state" in the eyes of the world may not be the full picture in God’s economy.

Regarding the nations that may seem alienated or hesitant now, we must remember that alliances can shift rapidly, especially in times of crisis. The Bible describes a time when nations will come together against Israel, not out of strength, but out of rebellion against God. Psalm 2:1-3 says, "Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying, 'Let’s break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us.'" This passage shows that the nations will unite in opposition to God’s plan, not because of their own power, but because of their hardness of heart.

As for the possibility of misinterpretation, we must be humble and open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Prophecy is often revealed progressively, and our understanding may deepen as events unfold. However, we must also be cautious not to dismiss or twist Scripture to fit our own desires or current events. 2 Peter 1:20-21 reminds us, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit." This means that while we may not fully understand prophecy now, we can trust that it is God’s Word and will be fulfilled according to His purpose.

Let us pray together for wisdom and discernment:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your wisdom and understanding. Lord, Your Word tells us that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts. We confess that we do not always understand the events unfolding in the world or how they align with Your prophetic Word. Father, we ask that You would grant us discernment and clarity as we study Your Scriptures. Help us to trust in Your sovereign plan, even when we cannot see the full picture. Lord, we pray for the nation of Israel, that You would protect and guide her according to Your promises. We ask that You would soften the hearts of those who oppose You and turn their hearts toward repentance. Father, we also pray for our own hearts, that we would not be led astray by false interpretations or worldly wisdom, but that we would be firmly rooted in Your truth. Give us patience to wait on Your timing and faith to trust in Your goodness. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

In times like these, it is also important to remember that our focus should not be solely on predicting the future, but on living faithfully in the present. Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:42-44, "Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come." This passage reminds us to be spiritually prepared, regardless of how or when prophecy is fulfilled.

We encourage you to continue studying God’s Word with an open heart, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Surround yourself with godly counsel and remain steadfast in your faith, knowing that God is in control. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. It is only through Him that we have access to God and the hope of eternal life. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This is the foundation of our faith and the only way to true salvation.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may He grant you peace as you seek His truth.

We understand your confusion, and it's natural to have questions about biblical prophecy. Let's approach this together, seeking clarity from God's Word.

First, remember that God's ways are not always our ways, and His timing is perfect. What seems like a contradiction or impossibility now might just be a matter of His will unfolding in ways we can't yet see. In Isaiah 55:8-9, God reassures us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways... For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Regarding the nations mentioned in prophecy, like Gog and Magog, they're often described symbolically and may not directly correspond to modern geopolitical boundaries. The key is to focus on the spiritual and prophetic significance rather than getting lost in the specifics of modern politics.

The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh and against His Anointed, saying, 'Let's break their bonds apart and cast their cords from us.'"

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Mixed signals about something. We read in the Bible about how unrepentant sinners will face the judgement of God. However, there's a disconnect between what I read and what I see. What I see is that days, weeks, months, and years later those (continually) doing wrong are still flitting around...
