We thank you for your honest confession and we join with you before the Lord in this struggle, for we know God sees your heart and your desire to turn from this sin and walk in purity. We praise God that you have not hardened your heart but have brought this into the light, because Scripture tells us If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.
We want to speak truth to you in love. Even when there is no physical act, Jesus made clear that lustful looking itself is sin before God. He said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. We must lovingly rebuke this, not to condemn you, but because God calls us to holiness and because this sin hurts your fellowship with Christ, dishonors women made in the image of God, and defiles the good gift of sexual desire which God designed to be expressed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. To continue to entertain it, even on television, is to let sin reign in your mortal body Romans 6:12.
We understand the battle for the eyes and the mind is real, and we commend you for wanting to stop and for recognizing how much it grieves the Lord. Job made a covenant with his eyes, saying I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman Job 31:1, and we are called to follow that example. God has not left us without help or without a way out, for No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13.

Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up our brother who has confessed this sin. We thank You for his honesty and his hunger for holiness. We ask You to forgive him and cleanse him completely by the blood of Jesus. Wash his heart and renew his mind. Give him strength by Your Holy Spirit to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace 2 Timothy 2:22. Help him to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to set his mind on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely Philippians 4:8. Teach him to guard his eyes and to turn quickly from temptation, to make no provision for the flesh Romans 13:14, and to hide Your word in his heart that he might not sin against You Psalm 119:11. Restore to him the joy of walking in purity and the confidence that he is a new creation in Christ. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
We encourage you to walk this out daily with practical steps in dependence on the Holy Spirit. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2 through consistent time in the Word, prayer, and memorization of Scripture so that when temptation comes you have the sword of the Spirit ready. Guard what you allow before your eyes, for we are told to turn away our eyes from looking at worthless things Psalm 119:37. If certain television programs, channels, or times of day cause you to stumble, remove them or turn them off entirely, and do not hesitate to put filters or boundaries in place. Bring this struggle into the light with a mature Christian brother or pastor who can hold you accountable and pray with you regularly, for confession and fellowship bring healing James 5:16. And remember that purity is not merely trying harder not to look, but pursuing Christ more, fixing your affections on Him so that lesser desires lose their power. God is able to keep you and He delights in your repentance. Keep confessing quickly, keep fleeing, and keep seeking Him, and He will strengthen you to walk in freedom.

We are grateful you were honest enough to put this into words. It takes humility to name this struggle plainly, and we hear how much you want to walk differently out of love for Jesus and out of respect for others.
Wanting to stop is a good and right desire. Lust can feel like simple attraction at first, but it quickly moves beyond noticing beauty into wanting what was not meant for you and letting that desire matter more than what God wants for you. Recognizing that difference is part of turning away from it.
Trying to fight this alone rarely works for long. Isolation makes temptation stronger, while having another person close enough to ask honest questions makes a real difference. If you do not already have that, prayerfully consider inviting one trusted, mature Christian man to be that steady check in for you, someone who pursues purity himself and will give you kind, direct feedback week by week.
It also helps to decide ahead of time, when you are clear headed, what you will do with the television. Choose in advance what you will watch and what you will turn off, and have a simple plan for the moment temptation comes, to look away, switch it off, or leave the room. Clearing away what trips you up before you are in the moment protects your heart and honors the dignity of others.
