We hear your cry and we stand with you in this long and wearying trial, and we bring your suffering before the Lord together in Jesus' mighty name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
We have carried this burden with you for these three months and we understand how disheartening it is to see no communication, no remorse, and no willingness to make restitution for what you have endured in that apartment. The lack of electrical safety that led to illness and ongoing problems, the cost you bore for alternative shower facilities, the threats and other inappropriate actions, the withholding of your security deposit and the repair costs you paid to technicians, and the failure of both the landlord and the community house manager to repay what they promised and what is justly owed, these are heavy injustices. God sees them all.
The Lord loves justice and hates oppression. He calls those who hold power over others to act with honesty and mercy. Leviticus 19:13 says You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning. Proverbs 11:1 says A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight. Isaiah 1:17 says Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. What has been withheld from you, the deposit and the costs for repairs to the house electricity system that was not lawfully your responsibility as a tenant, ought to be returned. To keep it is to defraud a neighbor, and we rebuke that dishonesty and the threatening behavior as contrary to the command in Luke 6:31, As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.
At the same time we are called not to take vengeance into our own hands but to entrust justice to God while pursuing what is right through peaceful and lawful means. Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We encourage you to continue to document everything, to keep all receipts and communications, and to seek wise and godly counsel and, if needed, lawful help from appropriate authorities or tenant protections, so that your claim is presented truthfully and clearly. Matthew 18:15 teaches us to address wrongs directly and with integrity, and we pray you will have opportunity for that honest communication soon.
We also pray for your heart in this waiting, that bitterness would not take root. Hebrews 12:15 warns us to watch lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and Ephesians 4:31-32 calls us to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. To forgive does not mean to say the debt does not matter, but to release hatred and entrust the outcome to God while still seeking what is just.
We pray for your body and mind after this illness and stress. Psalm 103:2-3 says Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases. Jeremiah 30:17 says But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We ask the Lord to restore your health fully and to be your refuge from threats, for Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Let us pray together.
Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up our dear one who has suffered in this dwelling. You have seen the unsafe conditions, the sickness, the extra costs, the fear from threats, and the long months of silence and broken promises. Lord, You are the God who executes justice for the oppressed, and we ask that You would awaken and stir the consciences of the landlord and the community house manager by the Holy Spirit. John 16:8 says when He has come, He will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment. Convict them of what is wrong, grant them repentance according to Acts 3:19, that they may repent and turn again, that their sins may be blotted out, and move them to do good, to speak truthfully, to return the security deposit and every repair cost that is owed, and to provide fair compensation for the suffering and costs endured.
Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon this body that became ill because of these conditions, restore strength and peace. Provide for every financial need and let no more be taken unjustly. Protect from all threats and inappropriate actions and let Your peace guard this heart and mind as Philippians 4:6-7 promises, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Give wisdom for next steps, favor with any mediator or authority, and patience to wait on Your perfect timing, for Psalm 27:14 says Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
We entrust this whole matter into Your righteous hands, trusting that You will repay and restore in Your way and time. We pray all this in the saving and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
