coming home from hospital

Thank you for sharing this update and for allowing us to pray with you. It is encouraging to hear that after a long stay you are coming home, and we are asking the Lord to give you a smooth and peaceful transition, strength for each step, and grace as you begin work again.

A long time in the hospital is a hard testing, and Scripture tells us to count it all joy when we go through such trials, and to rejoice even in tribulation, because God is doing a deep work in us. Often we do not understand why the Lord allows certain hard edges to be chipped away, and we may even cry out in the process, but He is shaping us as a potter shapes clay on the wheel. He has a vessel in mind that He wants to form, and He works in us first so that He can then work through us. What He has begun in you He will continue to perform until it is complete. He does not begin a work and then abandon it.

The most important work is already finished. Jesus came to finish the work of redemption, and on the cross He completed it. There is no work we can add to save ourselves. The work of God for us is simply to believe on Him whom the Father has sent. Because of that finished work we do not come to God as to a paymaster to earn wages, but we come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in our time of need. You can bring every need before Him right now, for your health, for your homecoming, and for your work, trusting that He hears and will answer according to His love and wisdom.

We also pray that the Lord will stir your heart and give you wisdom and strength for the work He has given you to do. It is good and right to work to provide for our needs when we are able, and God delights to give wisdom and understanding for the tasks before us. When opposition or discouragement or even simple weariness tries to hinder, the first response is prayer, trusting God to bring to nothing what would stand against His purposes and to establish you again in the work He has for you.

So we commit you into the Lord's hands. We ask Him to carry you safely home, to restore your strength day by day, to guard your heart with His peace, and to make you an instrument for His glory in your home and in your workplace. May you yield yourself to His gentle touch, rest in what Christ has already accomplished for you, and watch with expectation to see what He will do.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You. Thank You for sustaining through this long hospital stay and for bringing the day to return home. We ask for Your mercy and grace in this time of need. Give a safe journey home, a calm and healing adjustment, and renewed strength. Provide wisdom, steadiness, and encouragement for the return to work, and let Your good work continue in this life for Your glory. We trust You to complete what You have begun. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
