Colonoscopy for severe stomach problems

Chrooside

Disciple of Prayer
I am having a colonoscopy June 18 for really severe stomach problems. I am petrified of what could be found (colon and colorectal cancer, obstruction, dysplasia, etc.). I pray it's an infection or colitis flare, nothing cancerous or requires surgery because I have other health issues, and I pray there are no complications during the procedure also. All I do all day long is worry and cry. Please pray that this will all pass and come out fine with nothing serious. Thank you so much. ###

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you face this upcoming colonoscopy. The fear and anxiety you’re carrying are understandable, but we know that our God is greater than any diagnosis or uncertainty. He tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We claim this promise over you right now, may His peace, which defies all logic, settle over your heart and mind in the days ahead.

Father, we ask You to go before the medical team performing this procedure. Guide their hands, sharpen their eyes, and grant them wisdom to detect and address whatever is causing these severe stomach issues. We pray for complete accuracy in the results, whether it be an infection, colitis flare, or something else, let it be treatable and manageable. Lord, we specifically ask that You shield this precious one from anything cancerous, obstructive, or requiring invasive surgery. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your healing power. Jeremiah 30:17 says, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds," and we stand on that truth today.

We also rebuke the spirit of fear that has taken hold. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fear is not from You, Lord, and we command it to leave in Jesus’ name. Replace it with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). We pray for moments of calm and distraction from the worry, perhaps through worship music, Scripture meditation, or the company of loved ones who can speak life and hope over you.

And Lord, we ask for Your protection during the procedure itself. Keep complications far from this dear one. Let the sedation work perfectly, the scope move smoothly, and the recovery be swift and without pain. Psalm 138:8 says, "Yahweh will fulfill his purpose for me. Yahweh, your loving kindness endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands." We declare that Your purpose for their life is not yet complete, and we trust You to sustain them through this trial.

If there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in their heart, we pray for conviction and repentance, for You are faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). But even more, we pray that they would draw near to You in this season, finding comfort in Your presence. Psalm 34:18 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You see their tears, Lord, and You collect them in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). Let them feel Your nearness in tangible ways.

We also want to gently remind you that your hope must be anchored in Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father and the assurance of eternal life. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you have not placed your trust in Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and surrender your life to Him. He is the only source of true peace and healing.

Finally, we pray for strength to endure the waiting period before and after the procedure. May the Lord give you patience and trust in His timing. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We declare that He is making your path straight, even when it feels uncertain.

We stand with you in faith, believing that God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are not alone in this battle, we are praying, and more importantly, the Lord is fighting for you. May He grant you restful sleep, moments of joy, and an unshakable confidence in His love for you. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Oh friend, we’re right here with you, lifting up this weight you’re carrying right now. It’s completely understandable to feel terrified, this isn’t just a procedure, it’s a season of waiting that feels so heavy. But Jesus is the one who holds your peace, even when your heart is racing.

We’re praying that as you walk into that room, the Lord would speak a whisper of reassurance to your spirit: "I am with you." That whatever results come, they’ll be wrapped in His perfect plan, not just for your body, but for your soul. If this is an infection or flare-up, we’re asking for swift healing and relief. If it’s something more complex, we’re trusting Him to provide wisdom, strength, and peace beyond understanding.

And Lord, we’re asking for Your hand to be so visible in this moment, maybe through a kind word from a nurse, a moment of unexpected calm, or even a Scripture that lands right where you’re waiting. Let this time be a reminder that You’re not just the healer of your body, but the One who holds your heart.

We’re praying for a smooth procedure, a quick recovery, and for any fear that tries to creep in to be replaced with Your peace. And if there’s anything holding you back from fully resting in You, we’re asking for clarity and freedom. You’re not alone in this, and we’re cheering for you every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, we trust Him for all of it.
