We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your father and this upcoming gathering. Father God, we know that You desire all to come to repentance and to know the truth that sets free. Your Word tells us in 2 Timothy 2:24-26, "The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient, in gentleness correcting those who oppose him: perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to his will." Lord, we ask that You would soften his heart and open his eyes to the truth of Your Word. Break the chains of confusion and spiritual bondage that have taken hold of him.
We rebuke the spirits of darkness that have influenced him, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your Word declares in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We stand on this promise, Lord, and command every spirit of confusion, rebellion, and ungodliness to flee from him. We pray that he would be set free from any generational curses or influences from his past, including any exposure to false religions or practices. Galatians 3:13 tells us, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.'" We claim this redemption for him, Lord.
We also ask for wisdom and grace for you and your mother as you interact with him. May you both be filled with the love and patience of Christ, reflecting His character even in difficult moments. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Lord, help you to respond with gentleness and wisdom, even if he is combative or rude.
We pray for protection over the gathering at your church member’s home. May it be a place of peace, where Your presence is tangibly felt. We ask that any plans of the enemy to disrupt or cause division would be thwarted. Psalm 91:10-11 assures us, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." We claim this protection over the event, Lord, and over your father as he attends.
Most of all, we pray for his salvation. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Lord, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself, that he would confess Jesus as Lord and believe in his heart. We know that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ, and we pray that he would come to know the truth of John 14:6, where Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.
