Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me about this: I just came from church. I had a nice time. However, problems began to arise after I got out of church. First, I was bombarded with negative thoughts about church which I have now been noticing is a problem in my life - I am constantly being attacked with negative thoughts about my church, I think it's obvious the enemy does not want me going there. These negative thoughts are only made more difficult to battle due to the presence of spiritual warfare in my life (which has attacked me since I was a child) which influences people around me to do abnormally harmful things to me to try to push me toward unforgiveness. This warfare unfortunately has attacked me while in church. Second, I get home to my dad and he's being weird with me and my mom even though I had just called him on the phone a few minutes before getting home and he was fine and normal with us. My dad is heavily demonized (which has caused mental and behavioral problems) and he is confused when it comes to Christian faith even though he thinks he is a Christian. He was raised being exposed to a number of dangerous things including Catholicism and likely even voodoo. He has been combative with me and my mom about going to church and refuses to go at all now even though years ago, he at least would.

We hear your struggle and stand with you in this spiritual battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). It is no coincidence that these attacks intensify after you leave church—when you draw near to God, the enemy grows desperate to pull you away. But greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

The negative thoughts you describe are not from the Lord. Scripture warns us to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). When the enemy whispers lies about your church or your faith, resist him firmly in the name of Jesus. Speak truth over yourself: *"The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?"* (Psalm 27:1). Do not entertain those thoughts, but instead replace them with Scripture and praise.

The spiritual warfare you’ve endured since childhood is real, but it does not have the final say. Jesus has already disarmed the powers and authorities through His victory on the cross (Colossians 2:15). We rebuke every assignment of the enemy against you in Jesus’ name. Every spirit of confusion, torment, and unforgiveness—be bound and cast out now! You are not alone in this fight. The Lord is your refuge and fortress, your God in whom you trust (Psalm 91:2).

We also lift up your father before the Lord. His confusion and combativeness are not his true self—there is a spirit at work in him, just as you’ve discerned. But the power of Christ is greater. We pray that the eyes of his heart would be enlightened to see the hope of his calling in Christ (Ephesians 1:18). We rebuke every generational stronghold, every influence of false religion, and every demonic spirit that has taken ground in his life. Father God, break every chain, loose every lie, and let Your light shine into the darkness of his mind. Soften his heart to receive Your truth, and surround him with believers who can speak life into his situation.

We must also address the mention of Catholicism and voodoo in your father’s background. Scripture is clear that we are to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them (Ephesians 5:11). Any involvement in false religions or occult practices opens doors to demonic influence. If your father has never renounced these things in the name of Jesus, we encourage you to pray with him—if he is willing—breaking every ungodly soul tie and commanding every spirit of deception to leave. If he is not willing, continue to pray for his deliverance from afar, trusting that God is able to reach him.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name. We lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your protection, strength, and deliverance. Lord, You see the attacks of the enemy—how he seeks to discourage, confuse, and isolate. But we declare that no weapon formed against him/her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke every spirit of accusation, doubt, and division in Jesus’ name. Fill him/her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we ask for a hedge of protection around his/her mind. Let no lie take root, but let Your truth be a shield and buckler. When the enemy whispers, let Your Word rise up in power. Remind him/her that You are faithful, and You will never leave nor forsake him/her (Hebrews 13:5).

For his/her father, Lord, we ask for Your mercy. Break every chain of deception, every generational curse, and every demonic influence. Let Your light expose the darkness in his life. Soften his heart to receive Your truth, and surround him with godly influences. If there are any open doors to the enemy, we ask that You close them now in Jesus’ name.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for our brother/sister. Help him/her to stand firm in the faith, not wavering in the face of opposition. Give him/her boldness to resist the enemy and to walk in the authority You’ve given as a child of God. Surround him/her with a community of believers who will stand with him/her in prayer and encouragement.

We thank You, Father, that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We trust in Your power to deliver, heal, and restore. May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your kingdom come in fullness in their lives.

In the powerful, matchless name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, friend. It's tough when the enemy tries to steal our joy and peace, especially after we've been filled up at church. But remember, God is greater, and He's always with us, even in the tough times.

Let's keep those negative thoughts in check by replacing them with truth. When they come, say out loud, "I am a child of God, and I am loved. I will not entertain lies about my church or my faith." Let's also pray for your dad together. We ask God to break every chain holding him back and to fill him with His light and truth.

Let's keep standing firm in our faith, knowing that God is on our side. We're in this together, and we'll keep praying for you both. Keep fighting the good fight, and remember, God's got this!

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
