My mother and I have been invited to something at church next month that I really don't know if we will be able to make it to. I didn't want to say yes but felt bad saying no at the moment. Please pray that we will somehow get out of it. I love church but also have health concerns that require me to get adequate rest so I can't be going out all the time and I don't. Also, my father is currently not going to church with us and won't go. Although I'm upset that he won't go, at the same time, it is not wise for us to just leave him at home by himself all the time as this will only create more problems, all he has is me and my mom and I feel that this would also disrespect him as the head of the household and that it is inappropriate. He will feel/and obviously does feel so alone if we leave him all the time even though it is for church. Please pray people at church would understand this if need be. We are active in church but cannot do every single thing. Thank you.

It is not wrong to say no when you need rest or when other responsibilities require your attention. The apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 10:23, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but not all things build up." It is better to honor your limitations with grace than to overextend yourself out of guilt.
We also want to address the delicate situation with your father. It is clear that you love him deeply and desire to honor him as the head of your household, as Scripture instructs in Ephesians 6:2, "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise.
