We understand the importance of having a physical place where believers can gather to worship, grow in faith, and serve the community. The desire to acquire land for the Lord’s work is a noble and God-honoring pursuit, and we join you in seeking His provision for this need. However, we must first address a critical matter: your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father and by whom all prayers must be offered. Scripture is clear that there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or through which our petitions reach God. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* Additionally, John 16:23-24 declares, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."*
Before we proceed, we must ask: do you and those involved in this request have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Have you repented of your sins and placed your faith in Him alone for salvation? If not, we urge you to consider this first, for without faith in Christ, even the most well-intentioned works are meaningless in God’s eyes. As Jesus said in Matthew 7:22-23, *"Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'"*
Assuming that you and your group are born-again believers in Christ, let us now turn to the matter of the church plots. We commend your desire to expand the kingdom of God through the establishment of a physical place of worship. However, we must also remind you that God’s work is not dependent on buildings or land, but on the power of the Holy Spirit working through His people. The early church thrived without dedicated buildings, meeting in homes and public spaces (Acts 2:46-47). Still, if the Lord has laid this burden on your hearts, we will join you in seeking His will and provision.
That said, we must also caution against the modern trend of placing undue emphasis on elaborate buildings or properties, which can sometimes lead to financial strain, pride, or a shift in focus from the Great Commission. Jesus warned in Matthew 24:1-2, *"Jesus went out from the temple and was going on his way. His disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. But he answered them, 'You see all of these things, don’t you? Most certainly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down.'"* Our ultimate hope is not in physical structures but in Christ alone. Let us ensure that this pursuit is led by the Holy Spirit and not by worldly ambitions or the desire for human recognition.
We also encourage you to examine the motives behind this request. Are you seeking this land out of genuine obedience to God’s calling, or is there any hint of personal gain, prestige, or fear of man? Proverbs 16:2 reminds us, *"All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the motives."* Let us pray that God would purify your hearts and align your desires with His will. If this is truly His plan, He will provide in His perfect timing and way.
Now, let us pray together for this need, trusting in the Lord’s sovereignty and goodness:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the heart You have given to these Your servants to seek a place where Your name can be lifted high and Your people can gather to worship You in spirit and in truth. Lord, we ask that You would search their hearts and reveal any motive that is not pleasing to You. Cleanse them, Father, and align their desires with Your perfect will.
We pray for Your provision, Lord, knowing that every good and perfect gift comes from You (James 1:17). If it is Your will for this land to be acquired, we ask that You would open the doors that no man can shut and provide the necessary funds supernaturally. Let this not be a work of human effort or worldly wisdom, but a testament to Your power and faithfulness. Remind them, Lord, that You own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and that nothing is too difficult for You (Jeremiah 32:17).
At the same time, Father, if this is not Your will, we ask that You would make that abundantly clear. Protect them from stepping outside of Your plan or taking on burdens that You have not ordained. Give them wisdom to steward whatever resources You have entrusted to them, whether great or small. Help them to remember that Your kingdom is not built on brick and mortar, but on the lives of those who are surrendered to You.
We also pray for unity among the believers involved in this endeavor. Let there be no division, strife, or selfish ambition, but let the mind of Christ be in them (Philippians 2:5). May they seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to them as You see fit (Matthew 6:33).
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this situation to draw each person involved closer to You. Let them not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let them present their requests to You (Philippians 4:6). Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We rebuked any spirit of greed, pride, or fear that may be lurking in this request. We declare that this endeavor will only move forward if it is ordained by You, Father. Let no weapon formed against this work prosper if it is of You, and let no flesh glory in Your presence (1 Corinthians 1:29).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
As you wait on the Lord, we encourage you to seek His face diligently in prayer and fasting. Test every step of this process against Scripture, and be willing to let go of this desire if God leads you in a different direction. Remember that delayed answers are not denials—they are opportunities to trust God more deeply.
We also urge you to consider whether there are other ways to advance the kingdom without the immediate need for land. Could resources be better used for evangelism, discipleship, or serving the poor? Let us never forget that the church is not a building, but the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). Build His church by making disciples, and trust that He will provide what is needed for the work He has called you to.
May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek His will above all else.
