We lift up our hearts together in prayer and intercession for our church leaders, pastors, preachers, and the entire body of Christ. It is a sacred responsibility to shepherd God’s people, and we recognize the weight of this calling. Father, we ask that You strengthen our leaders in their devotional lives, that they may seek You first in prayer, study, and preparation. May their lives be a living testimony of Your grace, and may their teaching be sound, rooted in Your Word, and anointed by the Holy Spirit.

We pray for the salvation of the lost within our churches, those who attend but have not yet surrendered their lives to Christ. Lord, draw them by Your Spirit, as You promised in John 6:44, that no one can come to You unless the Father draws them. Open their hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel, that they may be saved and transformed by the power of Your love. We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and that they would respond in repentance and faith.

Father, we also lift up the families in our congregations, those who are struggling, those who are far from You, and those who need encouragement to gather in worship. Stir within them a hunger for Your Word, as newborn babes desire milk (1 Peter 2:2). May they not neglect the assembling of themselves together, as is the habit of some (Hebrews 10:25), but let them be drawn to Your house with joy and expectation. We pray that through the preaching of Your Word, testimonies of Your faithfulness, and the witness of believers, they would come to know Christ as their Savior.

We rebuke every spirit of distraction, apathy, and deception that would keep Your people from gathering in worship. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we declare that Your truth will prevail. May our churches be places of true worship in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24), where the Holy Spirit moves freely, anointing every believer with power and revelation.

Lord, we thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins (Galatians 2:20). We pray that every soul in our churches would come to a deep understanding of this truth, that salvation is found in no other name but Jesus (Acts 4:12). For those who have not yet confessed Him as Lord, we ask that You would soften their hearts and grant them the gift of faith.

We also pray for our leaders’ personal lives, that they would walk in humility, integrity, and holiness. May they be examples to the flock (1 Peter 5:3), leading with wisdom and compassion. Strengthen them in times of weariness, and protect them from burnout and discouragement. Let their homes be places of peace and their marriages strong, reflecting Your love and faithfulness.

Father, we ask that You would raise up laborers for the harvest (Matthew 9:38), that more would be saved and added to Your kingdom. May our churches be filled with the sound of worship, the teaching of Your Word, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Let us not grow complacent but continue to seek You with all our hearts.

We declare that Your promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20). We trust in Your faithfulness to draw the lost, equip the saints, and build Your church. May Your name be glorified in all we do.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We’re moved by the way you’ve woven together prayer for your pastors, your family, and the whole gathering of believers. It’s clear you carry a deep longing for the Spirit to move in your church’s worship and in the hearts of those you love. That kind of intercession mirrors the heart of our Father, who desires that none would perish but all come to repentance.

Sometimes we can feel the weight of these requests as we wait to see God’s hand, but what you’re doing right now, continually bringing these needs before the Lord, matters immensely. As we lift up church leaders and family members alike, we remember that God often works through the simple, steady rhythm of gathering together. The act of showing up in worship, even when faith feels small or distant, has a way of loosening our grip on self and opening us to the Spirit’s truth. You’re right to keep inviting your family, not with pressure, but with the quiet confidence that God can meet them in a sermon, a hymn, or the warmth of a church family.

And as you pray for your leaders’ devotional lives, know that your faithfulness encourages them. Pastors need to hear that their people are praying for their own walk with Jesus; it strengthens them to preach and serve with fresh dependence on the Spirit.

We join you in asking the Father to draw each family member to the gathering, to give ears to hear, and to soften hearts toward repentance and faith. May the Holy Spirit bring that illumination you’ve prayed for, and may your whole church family grow in the knowledge of Christ.

Father, we lift up these pastors and this beloved church community. Revive the devotional lives of their leaders, and pour out a Spirit of revelation on everyone who walks through their doors. Draw these family members tonight and tomorrow, and in their hearing of the Word, grant faith and a true understanding of your forgiveness. Protect them from the evil one, and give this household a lasting hunger for Scripture. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The very form of words thrust before me speaks of a heart that knows its own emptiness and longs for the power from on high. Yet observe where your chief emphasis lies, upon forms, upon attendance, upon the very pattern of words. The one great matter is this: Has the Holy Spirit fallen upon you? Has He fallen upon those for whom you plead? Without Him, the most earnest asking is but the beating of the air, and the assembling of ourselves together is but a congregation of the dead. You speak of drawing family to church, but it is the Spirit alone who draws sinners to Christ Himself, who is the head of the one true church, the company of men who have received the Spirit.

Consider how you speak of the preacher seeking God in prayer and preparation. This is good, but let the preacher confess before he preaches that he relies upon the Holy Spirit. Let him burn his manuscript and depend upon the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is not upon him, his study is vanity, his sound teaching is a dead letter, and his visiting of families is but a social call. The church is weak today because the Holy Spirit is not upon her members as we would desire Him to be. Do you ask for freedom in worship, for the Holy Spirit’s anointing? Then grieve Him no longer with unbelief, with unholiness of life, with a formal trust in the mere strength of good intentions and strong resolutions. The only way for a Christian to be discerned to be a Christian, or for a Church to be manifested as a Church of God is by having the Spirit of God, and in the name of the Spirit of God doing exploits for God.

Your prayer runs with many words about faith coming by hearing, and the Spirit’s work of revelation. Remember then, the Holy Spirit deals with the things of Christ. Do you want your family members to receive the Word, to have minds opened? Then we must tell what the Holy Spirit has told us, and that is Christ crucified for our sins, and we must pray the Holy Spirit to bless that truth by enabling them to see Christ as the Spirit reveals Him. A sermon of Christ set in the light of the Holy Spirit shines like a diamond. But you cannot command the Spirit by citing the hour of church attendance, as though He were bound by the clock. You must be quickened by the Holy Spirit, for you are dead in trespasses and sins, and so are they. The Holy Spirit is the Author of all spiritual life; until He visits them, they remain dead. No flesh and blood, no godly habit of going to a building, reveals the Messiah, but our Father in heaven by His Spirit.

You ask for protection from the evil one who loves a famine of hearing the word. Yet consider this: a famine of hearing may sit in the very pew where the word is preached, if the hearer does not pray in the Holy Spirit. The carnal mind knows nothing of praying in the Holy Spirit’s power. Have you prayed in the Holy Spirit? Has the Holy Spirit had anything to do with that form of words you have sent? Is it possible you have mocked God with a solemn sound upon a thoughtless tongue? I do not charge you with it, but I press the question. The Spirit actually helps us to pray, telling us how to pray, making intercession in us. Without that, the most extended petition is a grieved Spirit.

Our utter dependence is upon Him. What can we do if we have Him not? Nothing. If you would have the Holy Spirit, let us meet together earnestly to pray for Him. Remember, the Holy Spirit will not come to us as a church, unless we seek Him. Let us purge our churches of everything that is contrary to His Word and to sound doctrine, and then the Spirit will return, and his power shall be manifest. Cry out that the Spirit would fall upon all them which hear the word, not merely that they would gather to hear it. For this thing will He be enquired of. Seek Him. Honor Him. Do not vex Him by relying on the machinery of religion while neglecting His sovereign power. The blessed Spirit of revival, when poured out, makes the heaviest church to float out to sea. Oh for that day.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You pour out a great flood of requests, and it is good that your heart burns for the salvation of your household and for the shepherds of the flock. The desire is holy; the prayer is right. But take heed lest in your zeal for others, you neglect the soil of your own soul. For what does it profit a man to pray that his family hear the Word, if he himself goes away from the assembly bearing nothing but wonder at what was said? The Lord called the seed that fell on rocky ground those who hear and immediately receive the word with joy, yet have no root and in time of temptation fall away. One part alone is not sufficient for our salvation: first there must be careful hearing and continual recollection, then fortitude, then contempt of riches and deliverance from all worldly things. If you ask the Father to draw your loved ones while your own life is careless and soft, your prayer becomes an unlawful one, adding to negligence the presumption of commanding God.

The Shepherd of all is indeed ever near, and His will is that none should perish. But He does not save the slothful hearer who merely admires the preacher and goes home unchanged. He who knew the Master’s will and did it not shall be beaten with many stripes. You ask for the Holy Spirit to open minds; let Him first open yours. You intercede for the lost; then let your own conduct be a living gospel, so that those who observe your humility, your soberness, your almsgiving, may be won without a word. For if you feed dogs and wild beasts of vanity while your neighbor perishes with hunger, what fellowship do you have with the Christ who became poor for your sake?

Therefore, let your prayer be salted with your own earnest striving. Bear the burdens of your family by gentle reproof and patient endurance, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Then, as you stand in the church of God, not of this or that man, but united in the one Body, the Lord will honor the cry of faith that works through love. Do not simply ask that others hear; become, by grace, a hearer who does, and your household will see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
