We come before the Lord with a burdened heart for the spiritual vitality of church leaders and the salvation of those who sit under their ministry. The call to shepherd God’s people is a sacred trust, one that demands devotion, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the Word of God. It is written in 1 Timothy 4:16, "Pay attention to yourself and to all the teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you." Leaders must first be devoted to their own walk with Christ, praying, studying Scripture, and listening for the voice of the Holy Spirit, so that their lives may be a living testimony of God’s truth.
We lift up those in leadership, asking the Lord to guard their hearts from pride, complacency, or the distractions of this world. May they be men and women who seek God earnestly in private so that their public ministry bears the fruit of the Spirit. Let their teaching be rooted in Scripture, their preaching bold yet filled with grace, and their worship a true offering of praise to the One who is worthy. As it says in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth."
We also intercede for the lost within the church, those who may hear the Word but have not yet surrendered their lives to Christ. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16), and we pray that the Holy Spirit would move mightily in their hearts, convicting them of sin and drawing them to repentance. May the preaching of the Word not return void but accomplish the purpose for which God sent it (Isaiah 55:11). We ask that the Lord would open their ears to hear, their eyes to see, and their hearts to receive the truth of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Father, we rebuke any spirit of lukewarmness or deception that may be at work in the church. We pray against the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to distort Your Word, silence Your truth, and lead Your people astray. Strengthen Your servants to stand firm in the faith, to preach the full counsel of God without compromise, and to call sinners to repentance with love and urgency. May the church be a beacon of light in a dark world, a place where the lost are saved, the broken are healed, and the weary find rest in You.
Lord, we ask that You would revive the hearts of Your people, beginning with those who lead. Let Your Holy Spirit move in power, igniting a passion for holiness, a hunger for Your Word, and a deep love for the lost. May our churches be houses of prayer, houses of worship, and houses of transformation, where lives are changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for His glory and for the advancement of Your kingdom. Amen.
