We come before the throne of grace with hearts burdened for the spiritual vitality of church leaders and the salvation of the lost within our congregations. It is a sacred responsibility to intercede for those who shepherd God’s flock, that their devotional lives may be deep and their ministries anointed by the Holy Spirit. Father, we lift up pastors and preachers, asking that You would draw them into intimate communion with You through prayer, the study of Your Word, and a lifestyle of holiness. May their teaching be sound, their hearts tender toward the lost, and their families a testimony of Your grace. We pray for the families in our churches, those who are saved and those who are yet to believe, that You would draw them by Your Spirit, as Jesus said, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him" (John 6:44). May they not neglect gathering together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another all the more as they see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25).
We rebuke the spirit of complacency and distraction that keeps believers from the means of grace You have ordained, preaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42). The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16), and faith comes by hearing the message of Christ (Romans 10:17). Yet we also ask for divine appointments, dreams, visions, and open doors, for You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Let worship rise in Spirit and truth (John 4:24), and may the Holy Spirit anoint every gathering with the presence of Christ, the Anointed One (1 John 2:20).
Father, we confess that apart from Christ, there is no salvation (Acts 4:12). If any in our midst have not called upon the name of Jesus, we pray they would be convicted of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). Grant them repentance and faith to receive the forgiveness of sins and newness of life (2 Corinthians 5:17). Protect them from the evil one, who seeks to keep them in darkness, for "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). Stir in them a hunger for Your Word, that they may crave pure spiritual milk and grow in salvation (1 Peter 2:2). Open their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke 24:45), and let the revelation of Jesus as Messiah come not by flesh and blood, but by Your Spirit (Matthew 16:17).
We stand on Your promise that You desire all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). We ask, believing that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us, and if You hear us, we have what we asked of You (1 John 5:14-15). So we pray for the lost in our churches, our communities, and our families, save them, Lord, as You saved the chief of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). Let Your Word go forth with power, and let none resist Your call. May every soul come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9), and may our churches be filled with those who have been born again by the Spirit (John 3:3).
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Amen.
