Church and Life

Beloved of All
I hope not to get sick. At my parish, ### in ###, Canada; seems to be struggling; hope they are not getting rid of the Neighbourhood Project, for example; as I saw things related to that and other things not related to it; that are worrisome. My family sent a computer to be fixed; hope they fixed everything that was wrong. They are issues with a newer computer; hope they get fixed. My family is planning to go out of town soon; hope my mum ### isn’t a jerk and at least somewhat reasonable; now and when we travel out of town; she also has arm pain and supposed to get foot surgery in late ###. Hope it doesn’t snow until mid-###; hope the outside backstairs get fixed. My dad ### is not that well; hope he gets well enough to do what is needed soon. With the packing; I hope my packing isn’t too heavy, this time. The packing less to go there (doesn’t make much sense) as they don’t have as many things there versus back home, but parents still want me to pack less.

We join together with you in bringing all of these cares before our heavenly Father, for He cares deeply about every detail of our lives and our church and our families.

We hear the many worries weighing on your heart, your health, your parish in Canada and the Neighbourhood Project, the computers needing repair, your upcoming travel out of town, your mum's arm pain and upcoming foot surgery, your dad not feeling well, the snow and the back stairs, and even the stress of packing. Scripture encourages us to bring all of these things to God rather than carrying them alone, for it says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We are also reminded to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7.

We want to gently address one thing you shared about your mum. We understand that family travel and stress can bring tension, and it is honest to share your frustration, but God calls us to honor our parents even when it is difficult. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you Exodus 20:12. This is repeated in the New Testament, Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise Ephesians 6:2. Speaking of your mum in a harsh way, even when you are worried she might be unreasonable, does not honor her or the Lord. We encourage you to pray for patience and for a spirit of grace toward her, and to speak about her with respect, trusting God to soften hearts and bring peace to your home as you travel together. We also lift up your dad and pray for his healing, and for your mum's arm pain and her foot surgery in the coming weeks.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9. It is by trusting in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that our prayers are heard.

We now pray together for all that you have shared.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and lift up this dear one to You. Lord, we ask for Your protection over their health that they would not get sick, and for Your healing touch upon their dad that he would be well enough to do what is needed, and upon their mum for her arm pain and for wisdom and success for her foot surgery. We pray You would bless those who perform the surgery and bring complete healing, for You are the One who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases Psalm 103:3. We ask for Your hand upon their parish in Canada, that You would strengthen the church, encourage its leaders, and provide for the Neighbourhood Project and every good work You desire to continue there, and calm the worries they have seen. We pray for the computers to be fully repaired and for the workmen's hands to be thorough, for the back stairs to be fixed safely before snow comes, and for favorable weather as they travel. Lord, grant peace in their family as they prepare and travel out of town, help them to pack wisely and to honor their parents' wishes about packing lighter, showing obedience and consideration in love as instructed in Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right Ephesians 6:1. Help them to trust You with every small detail, for we know that if we trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and do not lean on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. Give them Your peace that surpasses understanding, guard their heart from fear, and remind them that You will strengthen and uphold them, for You have said Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how many different worries are sitting on your heart right now, from your parish and the Neighbourhood Project to computers that need fixing, travel coming up, your parents health, the stairs and even the weather and packing. When so many small and big concerns stack up at once it can feel heavy and hard to rest.

It makes sense you would feel stretched thin caring about all of this. One thing that sometimes helps when the list feels long is to gently separate what you can ask about or prepare for from what is simply out of your hands for today. For the trip, it might ease some tension to have a calm, brief talk with your parents ahead of time about what packing light looks like to them so expectations are clear before you go. For the parish concerns, a quick check in with someone at the church office could give you clearer information than worrying from a distance.

We also notice you mentioned your mum's arm pain and upcoming foot surgery and your dad not feeling well. Alongside prayer, we encourage you to keep encouraging them to stay in touch with their doctor or care team for guidance and follow up.

Father, we bring this dear one and their family to You. We ask for Your peace over their mind, protection over their health, and kindness and patience in their home as they prepare to travel. Give wisdom to their parish leaders and care for their mum and dad in the days ahead. Lead and comfort them in Your will. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Many cares have been laid upon your heart at once, and you have done well to bring them before the Lord in prayer.

You speak of sickness feared, of a parish that seems to be struggling, of computers needing repair, of journeys and packing, of snow and stairs, of a mother and father whose health is frail. To be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry and fretfulness is a burden the Saviour would have you lay down. He says to you, do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent, be diligent, do what your hand finds to do, but do not fret. As far as experience and observation can tell, anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Your strength is to sit still, to commit your way unto the Lord and to trust also in Him.

You are anxious also about the cause of God where you worship, and about things you have seen that are worrisome. That is right to care for the Lord's house, but if the anxiety is confined to yourself, turning over within your own thoughts, no good will come of that. All things may seem to be going amiss, yet the Lord reigns and His healing power is present when Christ is taught and trusted. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Pray that the Word may be faithfully preached and heard there, and leave the Neighbourhood Project and all other concerns in His wise hands who can keep His own work.

For your health and for those you love, look to Jesus, the Tree of Life. Heaven is the abode of Jesus and Jesus is the healing for His people. There is one plant of renown, one sacred Fountain opened on Calvary, one great Physician who lays His hands on men and they are restored. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and even the leaves of that Tree are full of healing virtue for the nations. Pardon and healing are one in Him, for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings. When He said to the palsied man, thy sins are forgiven thee, He showed that the deepest healing begins in the soul, and from that forgiveness flows a health which will at last be perfect in body and soul forever. Until the glory life begins, the abiding power of those healing leaves keeps the soul of the believer in health, and will keep him so, world without end.

Let us pray together that the Lord will keep you from sickness according to His will, and give you perpetual health in Christ which no outward affliction can take away. May He lay His gracious hand upon your mother, easing the pain in her arm and preparing her for the surgery of her foot, and upon your father, that he may be raised up and made well enough to do what is needed. May He give you grace to honour your parents with patience and gentle speech, even when you are tried, and to show that love which sweetens commonplace things like packing and travelling. May He grant you safety as your family goes out of town, keep the weather and the road in His care, and provide for the repair of the back stairs and of the computers in His good providence. And may He teach you prudence in these temporal matters, to pack wisely and to spend and act not wastefully, casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.

We are on our way to eternal health. If a man could be quite sure that he would be in perfect health tomorrow, he would say little about the sickness of an hour. You have that sure hope in Christ, who Himself bore our sicknesses that His health might flow into you. Rest there, and you shall be fitted to meet each need as it comes, and to minister unto Him in your family and in His house.
