When I am Christ occupied I find rest in him. Christ rest = no stress, sickness, shame, fear or doubt. When I am under Jesus' wing at rest i receive Grace upon Grace heaped up larger then the highest mountain for the things of this world have no power over me. Being Christ Occupied allows me not to try.
Example: When I used to live under what I thought was Grace (it was really the law mixed with what I thought was Grace) condemnation, doubt and fear took hold in my life. If I sinned I would feel a separation from God. I felt that I should pray more, read more or whatever I need to do to so that I could gain favor with God and be back in his his Grace. I would pray so hard for God to be patient with me, ask him to help me work through this and not to punish me only to find myself at a later time doing the same sin again. What a horrible way to live. This is living under the law and is self-occupation. I would focus on what I need to do and not on what Christ already did.
But now that I have learned to occupy myself with Christ, knowing I am forgiven and made righteous in God's eyes, i now find rest in Him. This rest brings victory in every part of life. I don't have to feel condemnation, guilt or shame ever again. Grace is such FREEDOM. I no longer ever have to live under the law again.
The law makes me self-conscious and this allows fear and shame to take control. Feeling that I need to work to win God's Favor. Being self-conscious takes all that Christ did on the cross and his "Finished Work" and cancels it out. By being Christ occupied, taking rest in Him, I am forever forgiven, free to accept His love and PRAISE HIM every second of the day.
And how dangerous is mixing the law with Grace. It causes me to live in confusion. It causes me to think that God is sometimes pleased with me and other times angry with me. Mixture leads to confusion and God is not the author of confusion.
Now if there is some sin in my life, i pray to Him saying I am not even going to try today for I know that I cannot overcome this on my own. I take rest in You oh Lord. For You live the victorious life for me. I will keep my eyes on you for I cannot overcome but You can. Thank You for Your Grace.
Now sin has no control over my flesh. I am released from its power and by faith I live a life through Christ.
Now in my life I have permanent rest in Christ. Praise God. Christ Occupation is LIFE.
