I pray for the safety and request a prayer for all the children on Halloween our homes to be safe and secure and for the Holy Spirit to intervene in all things in Jesus name and for no curse to land in my home or the homes I pray for.

Have You Forgotten Him?
We join with you in prayer for the safety of all children and for the protection of our homes during this time, and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard.

We understand your concern, for Halloween is a night when many celebrate darkness, fear, and things that God calls detestable, including witchcraft and sorcery. The enemy seeks to glorify evil and to make light of spiritual darkness, but we know that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. We are called not to participate in unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead to expose them, Ephesians 5:11, and to overcome evil with good. While the world may celebrate fear, we walk as children of light, and we take this as an opportunity to be a light in the darkness and to cover our families and communities in prayer.

We take comfort in the promises of God for protection. He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways, Psalm 91:11. The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them, Psalm 34:7. Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more, Psalm 121:7-8. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one, 2 Thessalonians 3:3. And we cling to the truth that no weapon that is formed against you will prevail, Isaiah 54:17, and that no curse can land where the blood of Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit dwell.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You that You are our refuge and our fortress, our God in whom we trust. We lift up every child who will be out on this night, and we ask You to place Your hedge of protection around them. Keep them safe from harm, from predators, from accidents, and from every scheme of the enemy. We pray for every home represented here, including our own, that You would make them safe and secure. Let no curse, no spell, no evil intent, and no weapon formed against us prosper or land. We plead the blood of Jesus over our doorposts, our families, and our dwellings, and we ask that Your Holy Spirit intervene in all things, filling our homes with Your peace, Your light, and Your presence, driving out all darkness and fear. For You have said no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling, Psalm 91:10. Lord, let Your light shine so brightly in us and through our homes that darkness has no place. Give parents and guardians wisdom and discernment to guard their children well and to use this night to show the love and truth of Christ. We trust You as our keeper and our shield, and we rest in Your faithful protection. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to keep your home as a sanctuary of prayer and the Word, and to speak blessing and not fear over your family. If you choose to engage with those who come to your door, do so with the love of Christ, perhaps offering a kind word and a reflection of His light, remembering that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it, John 1:5. Keep your hearts at peace, for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4.

We hear how much you care for the children and for the homes around you, and we join you in bringing that concern to the Lord. Wanting the little ones to be safe and your home to be at peace is a good and loving desire, and it is right to ask the Holy Spirit to be present in all that happens.

It is understandable to feel uneasy around Halloween when so much attention is on darkness. We do not need to be afraid, and we also do not need to pretend there is nothing to be watchful about. We can rest in knowing God is near and attentive, and we can also take simple, practical steps that help everyone feel more secure.

One thing that may help this week is to take a few quiet minutes to pray aloud over your own home and to make a clear plan for the evening. If children in your family or neighborhood will be out, stay with them, keep to well-lit and familiar places with trusted adults, and decide ahead of time when your porch light will be on or off so there is no confusion at the door.

Father, we bring every child and every home spoken for here before You. Cover them with Your presence, keep them safe from harm, and let Your peace fill each house. We ask that no harm would take hold there, and that Your Holy Spirit would guide and guard all that is done. We trust this to You in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for the children and for the homes that shelter them is heard with deep sympathy, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

What a mercy it is that the Lord pities his children as a father pities his own offspring. He has taught us to walk as a nurse cherishes her little ones, and he does not chide us for every mistake, for we are still his children. He is able to keep you from falling, and our safety lies not in our own watchfulness but in our Saviour, God our Saviour, who is as wise as he is able to keep us. He gives his angels charge over his people to keep them in all their ways, and this protection is both personal and perpetual. You do well to cry to him to keep you, for we constantly need his keeping against all the machinations of our adversaries.

You have asked that no curse should land upon your home or upon the homes for which you pray. Hear the comfort of the gospel in this matter. The curse causeless shall not come, and the curse that is due to us for sin, that just and universal curse of the law, has been borne by our great Substitute. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree. He was constituted a curse in our place, that he might buy us out from under the curse with a price. Therefore when the law would curse the man who believes in Christ, the answer is, You have cursed Christ instead of me. He that believes has no curse upon him. Our deliverance is by substitution, and it is complete.

So we pray with you now, that the Lord in his mercy would spread his hand over the little ones in these dark nights, and over every household you have named. That the Holy Spirit would intervene in all things, restraining evil, bringing conviction where there is darkness, and keeping your dwellings safe and secure under the shadow of his wing. That the Lord would keep your feet in the way of principle and consecrated service, for the way of principle is the way of safety, and that he would present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. We ask not for a blessing upon darkness, but for light to overcome it, and for the peace of Christ to guard your homes, in the name of Jesus our Redeemer, who alone is our salvation and our safety.
