We hear the pain in your words and we are standing with you in prayer, asking God to bring His deep healing to the wounds that have followed you from childhood. What happened to you as a child matters to God. He saw it, He has not forgotten you, and He is not distant from your suffering. He is close to those who are hurting and He desires to heal what is still eating away at your heart.

The Lord says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. He is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We know that childhood wounds, whether they were neglect, abuse, rejection, harsh words, or other trauma, can leave deep marks that affect how we see ourselves, how we trust others, and even how we see God. But we serve a God who is described as the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. Jesus Himself came to heal the brokenhearted and to set the captives free Isaiah 61:1, and that includes captivity to painful memories, shame, fear, and bitterness.

We want to encourage you to bring what happened into the light before the Lord. He already knows, and you do not have to carry this alone any longer. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. We encourage you to pour out your heart to Him honestly in prayer, and also to seek godly, biblical counsel whether through a trusted pastor or a mature Christian counselor who can walk with you through this healing process. Healing is often a journey, and God in His mercy can use His Word, prayer, and the support of other believers to bring restoration step by step.

We also want to gently speak about forgiveness and identity. Forgiveness through Christ does not mean what happened was okay or that you must trust an unsafe person again, but it does mean releasing the right to vengeance to God and allowing Him to free your heart from bitterness, so that bitterness does not take root and defile you Hebrews 12:15. Your identity is not defined by what was done to you. If you are in Christ, you are a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. God can redeem even the painful parts of your story for good as you trust Him, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true healing and salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet placed your full trust in Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9-10. It is through His shed blood and resurrection that your sins are forgiven, your heart is made new, and you are adopted as a beloved child of God, no matter what happened in your childhood.

We now pray together for you in Jesus name.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the childhood wounds that are still causing pain and You know every detail of what happened. We ask that You would reveal Your presence as a loving Father, that You would heal the broken heart and bind up every wound. Lord, we ask You to break the power of painful memories, shame, fear, and any lies that have taken root from those early years. Replace them with Your truth that this one is fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14, deeply loved, and cherished by You. Help them to cast every anxiety on You and to experience Your peace which surpasses all understanding guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Give them courage to walk in forgiveness as You have forgiven us, and to release bitterness while trusting You as the righteous Judge. Lead them to safe, godly counsel and community where they can be supported and encouraged. Restore what the enemy has tried to steal, and make their life a testimony of Your redeeming grace. We ask that they would know Jesus more deeply as Savior and Healer, and that Your will be done in their life for Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

We are grateful you reached out and named this. It takes real courage to say that something from childhood is still eating away at you.

It makes sense that early wounds can linger. When we are young we are so vulnerable, and hurts from that time can keep echoing in how we feel about ourselves and others, even many years later. Feeling that weight now does not mean you have failed or are weak.

You do not have to sort through it all at once or by yourself. One gentle next step that helps many people is to invite one safe, trusted person to walk with you over time, a pastor or a Christian counselor who will listen at your pace and pray with you. Healing often comes gradually, in a steady relationship where you can share what you are ready to share and quietly bring those painful memories to the Lord for His comfort, without pressure to revisit everything quickly. If the memories feel heavy or intrusive, please consider reaching out to a counselor or pastor for support alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You now. You see what happened in those early years and how it still hurts today. We ask for Your nearness and comfort, for safe and wise people to come alongside, and for grace for each next step. Remind them they are fully known and deeply loved by You, and give them rest as they look to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

There are sorrows laid upon us in our earliest years which the soul cannot shake off by its own strength, and you do well to bring this burden into the light before the Lord. The wound that was made long ago may still bleed inwardly, and none but the great Physician can search it to its depth.

Scripture tells us He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Our Lord Jesus Christ still wears His wounds in glory, not as marks of defeat but as tokens of His love and as proof that He sympathizes with the suffering. He wears them still that He may show that He sympathizes with you, for when God hid His face for a little from Him He cried, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me. There is healing even in the least thing that belongs to Him, for the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and there is not a word that ever fell from those dear lips but what bears healing in it for some one or other of the thousand ills that have befallen our humanity. As the leaves fall from the trees, so does sacred influence descend from our Lord Jesus in Heaven down to the sons of men.

Will you bring this old grief and lay it before Him who took our sorrows upon Himself. He does not discard the weak and wounded, for His wounds are healed wounds, and Christ's wounds must heal those that put their trust in Him. There is a balm, there is a Physician who can heal these deep wounds, who can give joy to the troubled countenance, take the furrow from the brow, wipe the tear from the eye, and calm the heart now swelling with grief. The costly balm of His atonement has lost none of its power. He heals not only the guilt of sin but the sorrow of sin, and the sorrow of being sinned against.

Let us pray together. O Lord, heal this soul, for its bones are vexed and its heart has long been sore wounded. Look upon this one who still feels what was done in childhood eating away within. Let the healing virtue that flows from Christ descend as leaves from the tree of life. Show the tokens of Thy love in His wounds, give faith to look to them and find there never failing consolation, and bind up what has been broken. Preserve from all evil, keep from the devices of the enemy, and let this afflicted one know that Thou art the great conduit Head from which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
