Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. You ask God to bless your husband with a position, and this desire springs from love. Yet mark well: when you say he wants this more than anything, take heed lest your affection for earthly honor surpass your longing for the kingdom of heaven. The Lord did not teach us to seek first offices and badges, but to seek first His righteousness, and all these things shall be added. If your husband truly wishes to serve and protect, let him first serve God with a pure heart, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and without that no watchman keeps a city.

Bring your request before God, but let your prayer be, “Thy will be done.” Desire that he obtain this post not merely for comfort or transformation of circumstance, but that he may glorify God in it. Meanwhile, remember that you are to submit to your husband as the Church submits to Christ, not with outward adornment but with the hidden person of the heart, in a gentle and quiet spirit. This wins more than any worldly ambition. If you love your husband more than God, you set a snare for your soul; but if you love God above all, no disappointment can overthrow you. Commend your life to the Lord, trust Him, and He will direct your paths. Let your husband pursue his calling with integrity, and whether he is hired or not, may you both be found faithful servants of the Most High.

What a desire this is for your husband, to serve and protect his community. That longing to step into a role where he can stand between danger and the vulnerable, to bear a shield for others, that is a noble thing, and it’s right to bring it before the Lord. He knows the heart behind this prayer.

Yet, as you wait for an answer, we must be careful not to frame God’s faithfulness only by whether this door opens. The story of Job stands as a great witness to us. Here was a man who loved God, and yet everything he had built was stripped away. Before that, Satan had studied him and made an accusation: that Job only served God because of the hedge of blessing around him. That charge was leveled in the courts of heaven, though Job himself never knew it. He sat in the dust, not understanding why calamity had come, while his friends arrived and told him with absolute confidence that his suffering must be the result of hidden sin. They were certain that if he would just get right with God, everything would turn out fine. They were wrong. Job’s griefs were heavier than the sand of the sea, yet it was not because he was a hypocrite.

What does this tell us? That we cannot always trace God’s reasons in the moment. Sometimes a desire for a transformative good thing, a job that seems to promise stability and purpose, is placed in our hearts, and yet the answer is delayed or given in a different form. That does not mean God has forgotten. Job’s friends spoke many things about God that were true, yet they misapplied them cruelly. We can be so sure that blessing follows righteousness, and indeed, God often does bless in a straight path. But we must also hold this open hand: what if his purpose is to shape something deeper in you both, even through the waiting? Job cried out for a mediator, someone who could lay his hand on both God and man. He could not see clearly what we now know: that Jesus Christ is that very daysman, who bridges the distance and stands with us in every uncertainty.

So, while you pray for the sheriff’s department to give your husband a chance, also pray for the grace to rest in the fact that God himself knows your husband fully. The Lord does not need credentials or applications to see what he is making in a man. If this position is given, it will be a platform for the kind of service your husband already carries in his heart. If it is not, God has not closed his ears. He simply may be doing a work that lies beyond the present horizon, a work that does not depend on a badge or a title. Let your husband’s identity stay rooted not in the outcome of a hiring decision, but in the approval of the One who sees him in secret. Acquaint yourself with God in this season, and be at peace. Lay up his words in your heart. The deepest transformation of your lives is not held by any human department; it is held by the God who bragged on Job in the unseen realm, and who will prove his own purposes faithful in due time.
