Can't rest

Hearing your cry for rest, I am joining you in prayer for the quiet and peace you need right now and for the Lord's protection and guidance over you and those close to you.

Scripture speaks of a perfect peace that God gives to those whose minds remain fixed on Him because they trust Him. Jesus told His disciples that He leaves His own peace with them and gives His peace to them, a peace that is different from anything the world can offer. There is also a peace that goes beyond human understanding that guards the heart. To know that kind of settled peace in your heart, you first need peace with God, and that peace comes only through what Jesus Christ has done for you in shedding His blood for your sins. When you are no longer at war with God but belong to Him through Jesus, you can then experience the peace of God within you, even when the world around you is full of turmoil. As you turn your thoughts toward Him and keep your eyes on Him, His peace can fill your heart and bring rest.

The Lord also wants to be your protection while you rest. Like a shepherd who would lie down in the opening of the sheepfold so that nothing could get to the sheep without passing over him, and like a hedge of thorns around the flock, the Lord Himself watches over His own. You can lie down knowing that He is the door and the guard, that no harm comes near you without passing His care.

I pray for you now that God will ordain peace for you and quiet your mind and body so you can truly rest. May He lift the burden that keeps you awake and give you a deep, sound, and refreshing sleep, and may He grant you a blessed and peaceful day in the hours ahead. I ask that Jesus will cover you and your loved ones with His protection, keep you from harm, and guide your steps with His wisdom. May He draw your thoughts to Himself, fill you with His restful peace, and let you know that He is caring for every need and working on your behalf. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
