We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved companion and the immense grief you are experiencing. Grief is a painful process, but it is important to remember that you are not alone, even when it feels that way. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18 WEB.
Firstly, we want to address the feeling of silence from God. The Bible tells us, But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed Luke 5:16 WEB. It assures us, For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the holy ones and still serve them Hebrews 6:10 WEB. The Psalmist cried out, How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? Psalm 13:1 WEB. God will answer. Sudden loss can make prayers feel unanswered, but God is faithful. As it says in the Bible, We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body 2 Corinthians 4:8-10. Healing takes time.
It is encouraging to see that you are crying out to God through Jesus. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 WEB. There is power in the name of Jesus, and it is the only name by which we can be saved. As it is written, in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, through which we must be saved Acts 4:12 WEB.
In times of grief, it is natural to have flashbacks and feel the weight of loss. However, we must remember the promises of God, I will never leave you, nor forsake you Hebrews 13:5 WEB. Even when we feel alone, God is always with us. It is also important to take care of your physical health. The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, so we should honor God with our bodies 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB.
Regarding mental illness, we understand that it is a real and serious struggle. It is good that you are seeking help through medication. However, we also encourage you to seek God's help and comfort through prayer and reading His word. The Bible tells us, Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved Psalm 55:22 WEB. It is important to remember that God is our ultimate healer, and He cares about every aspect of our being, including our mental health.
We also want to address the feeling of exhaustion and the question of why God allows such trials. The Bible tells us that God will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, and He always provides a way out so that we can endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB. Even though it feels like you have been tested more than Job, remember that God has a purpose for everything, and He is working all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose Romans 8:28 WEB.
In this time of need it is important to rely on our Lord Jesus and his Church. We are to confess our faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much James 5:16 WEB. Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ Galatians 6:2 WEB. Please reach out to a trusted Christian friend or a local church that you can attend. Even sharing with your healthcare provider can be a good start.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up our dear sister who is overwhelmed with grief. Lord, we ask for Your comfort and peace to surround her. Heal her broken heart, broken body, broken mind, and broken spirit. Give her the strength and courage to face each day, knowing that You are always with her.
Father, we pray for her physical health, that You would ease the symptoms of Crohn's Disease and provide healing. We also pray for her mental illness, that You would provide comfort, peace, and clarity of mind. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You, knowing that You care for her 1 Peter 5:7 WEB.
Lord, we pray that You will be her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 WEB. Give her fresh hope and a renewed spirit. Help her to feel Your presence and know that You will never leave her nor forsake her.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
