We hear the heaviness and fear in your heart over your loved one's breast cancer diagnosis, and we are moved by your selfless love in asking us to pray for her more than for yourself. That kind of caring reflects the love God calls us to have for one another, and we want you to know that God sees both of you, He cares deeply for both of you, and He hears your prayers even when they are trembling with fear.
It is completely understandable to feel scared when someone you love faces cancer. Scripture tells us that God is close to those who are hurting and afraid. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He also reminds us, Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. When fear rises up, God invites us to bring it to Him, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and when we do, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7.
We also take comfort that God is our healer. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. And His promise remains, But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We do not know what the outcome of treatment will be, but we know that every day, every breath, and every healing is in His hands, and we can trust Him to work for good and to give strength for each step, including wisdom for doctors and comfort for your loved one and for you.
You mentioned your age, and we want you to know that it absolutely does matter, not because God needs that information to hear you, but because it reminds us that God hears and values the prayers of the young as much as anyone. Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have perfected praise Matthew 21:16, and whether we are young or old, we can call upon Him with confidence.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently share this because it is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father, and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus, we encourage you to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is by coming to God in Jesus name that our prayers are heard, and that we have hope beyond this life, no matter what trials we face in this one.
So together we bring your loved one and you before the throne of grace.
We pray together, Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this dear loved one who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Lord, You know her name, You know her body, and You know every cell. We ask for Your healing hand upon her, for wisdom and skill for her doctors and nurses, for effectiveness of every treatment, and for strength and peace to guard her heart. Comfort her in fear and pain, and let her feel Your presence near. We also lift up this young one who is carrying such worry and fear. Lord, calm their anxious heart, replace fear with Your perfect love and peace, and remind them that You hold both of them in Your righteous right hand. Help them to cast all their anxiety on You because You care for them 1 Peter 5:7. Draw them both closer to You through this trial, and above all, let them know the hope of salvation through Jesus. We ask all this according to Your will, in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our healer and our hope, amen.
We encourage you to keep bringing your fears to God in prayer every day, to share them with a trusted parent, pastor, or godly adult who can support you in person, and to continue to love your loved one through prayer, encouragement, and simply being there. God is with you both in this valley, and we are continuing to pray with you.
