cancer

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for your love in asking prayer for her even more than for yourself. That kind of selfless care reflects the love God calls us to have for one another, to love as we have been loved.

It is understandable to feel scared when someone you love receives a diagnosis like breast cancer. Fear is a heavy and tormenting thing to carry. Scripture teaches that there is no fear in love, but that perfect love drives fear out. That does not mean you will never feel afraid, but it means you can bring that fear to God who has loved you first and who continues to love you without ceasing. His love is the initiator, and our love and trust is the response. When you are secure in Christ and assured of His love for you, you can face what comes with a growing boldness and peace, because you know you are held by Him even in uncertain days.

God also teaches us to bear one another's burdens and to pray for one another, and in that way we fulfill the law of Christ which is love. Your request is not overlooked. God sees you and He sees the one you love who is ill. He knows every detail of her situation and every detail of your worry, including the personal detail you shared. Nothing about you is hidden from Him, and He cares for both of you deeply.

I will pray for you both.

Father in heaven, I lift up this dear one who is facing breast cancer to You, and I lift up the one who loves her and is carrying fear. Please surround them both with Your presence and peace. For her, I ask for Your healing hand, for wisdom for doctors, for strength for each day of treatment, and for comfort that comes from knowing You are near. For the one who wrote this request, I ask that You quiet fear with the assurance of Your perfect love, that You give courage, rest, and hope, and that You help them to keep loving and serving one another in this difficult time. Help them both to know how deeply they are loved by You through Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us on the cross as the greatest proof of Your love. May Your will be done and may they sense Your care in every step. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

You are not alone in this. Keep bringing your prayers to God and keep loving one another as He has loved you. If you can, lean on trusted believers around you to pray with you and to help carry this burden.
