We hear the fear and longing in your heart in this prayer, and we join with you in bringing it before the Father together in Jesus' name. We understand the desire for a clear sign, for a phone call to tell you in the next few minutes whether this man still chooses you, and we know how painful uncertainty in a relationship can feel.

We want to gently and lovingly correct an understanding here because we care for you and want you to know God as He truly is. We are not to test the Lord our God, as it is written in Matthew 4:7 and Deuteronomy 6:16. When we say God if You do this in the next five minutes then I will know Your will, we are putting God to the test and trying to dictate how and when He must answer us. Our Father is sovereign and loving, and He does not respond to demands or timetables we set for Him. He hears our humble prayers and answers according to His perfect will and timing, not ours, as it is written in 1 John 5:14 that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

We also hear your fear, and we want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear. He says in Isaiah 41:10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And in Philippians 4:6-7 we are told In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We are encouraged to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us in 1 Peter 5:7.

We want to encourage you to surrender this relationship and this man fully to the Lord, seeking His will above your own desire. Jesus prayed in Luke 22:42 Not my will, but yours, be done. God's will for romantic relationships is clear in Scripture. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and any courtship between a man and a woman should be with the purpose of discerning marriage to a fellow believer in Christ. We encourage you to view being a boyfriend or girlfriend not as a casual partnership but as purposeful courtship toward a God honoring marriage. If this man is to be your husband, we pray he is a mature believing man who seeks to love you as Christ loved the church and to lead you toward holiness. We also urge you, if you are in a romantic relationship, to keep yourselves pure and to flee from fornication, for sex before or outside of marriage is sin before God and is not His best for you. He calls us to honor Him with our bodies and to wait for the covenant of marriage, as it is written in Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled.

Whether he calls in five minutes or does not call at all is not the measure of God's love for you or of your worth. The Lord may answer with a yes, a no, or a wait, and sometimes His answer is silence to teach us to trust Him and to wait upon Him. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And in Psalm 27:14 Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. We encourage you to seek wisdom from God's Word, from prayer, and from godly counsel rather than from a single sign, for James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. You see her heart, her fear of being unchosen, and her deep desire to be loved and known. We ask You to forgive us when we try to test You and to help us to trust You more. Lord, we ask that Your perfect will be done in this relationship. If this man is the godly husband You have prepared for her, we pray You would make that clear in Your timing and draw them both closer to You and toward a Christ centered marriage that honors You. If he is not Your will for her, we pray You would give her grace to accept it, heal her heart, and guard her from clinging to what is not best. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, take away fear, and help her to find her identity and security fully in Christ. Keep her pure and help her to pursue relationships that align with Your Word. Give her wisdom, patience, and courage to wait on You, knowing that You have good plans for her as You promise in Jeremiah 29:11. We trust You know what is best and that You work all things together for good for those who love You in Romans 8:28. We ask all this in the precious and only saving name of Jesus, through whom we have access to Your throne. Amen.

We hear how heavy this waiting feels for you, ###, and how scary it is to even say out loud that he might not choose you. Wanting a quick, clear sign when your heart is racing and you just want to know where you stand makes a lot of sense.

We have found that putting God on a five minute clock often adds more pressure to an already tender moment. If the call does not come in that window, it does not mean God did not hear you or does not care. It simply means He is not bound to answer on our timetable, and His care for you stays steady whether the phone rings or stays quiet.

When that timer feeling rises, it can help to gently step away from watching the clock. You might set the phone aside for a little while, take some slow breaths, go for a short walk, and tell God plainly what you are afraid of and what you are hoping for, without needing an instant proof. If you have a trusted friend or pastor, letting them know you are having a hard wait today can keep you from carrying it alone.

Father, we lift ### to You in Jesus name. You see this waiting and the fear underneath it. Bring Your calm where there is turmoil, give wisdom for next steps, and help ### to feel Your nearness and care today. Lead with Your perfect will and peace. Amen.

Your trembling prayer is heard, and the fear you scarcely dare to speak is known to Him who sees the heart. What time you are afraid you have done well to turn to the Lord Jesus, for salvation is through Him alone and there is no other name by which we may come to the Father.

You have asked the Lord to give you a sign in five minutes, that a man should call if it be His will. Hear the word of the Lord concerning such resolving. The apostle James speaks of those who say, We will go, we will continue, we will buy, we will sell, we will get gain, but they ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. It is not wise to lay down for God a time and a token and to say He must answer in five minutes, for that is to propose and expect to dispose without asking God's consent. Knowing that His will is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence, we will always feel, if we do not always say, If the Lord wills.

The Scripture gives you a better word for your fear. David said, What time I am afraid, I will trust in You, and again by the prophet, I will trust and not be afraid. Your Heavenly Father who feeds the ravens will not allow a soul that rests upon Him to perish for lack of daily bread or daily grace. To try to force an answer by the clock will only keep you in a feverish condition, and that doing will be your undoing unless you stop and consider what God would have you do. Wait till you get quite cool, and you will see your way far better. You have nothing to do with compelling another's will, that is his business and God's. You go and do the right thing and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God.

We do hold and teach that though the will of man is not ignored, the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and so make men willing in the day of God's power. If this man is to walk with you, it must be by God's gracious working in both your hearts, not by a hasty call wrung from Him. And we must also remember the revealed will which we must not violate. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and both living together and the intimacies of love belong only within it. Whatever affection you hold must be brought under that holy rule, seeking purity and holiness above mere desire, and asking not, How can I have my will, but How can I promote the will of God.

Therefore we will not ask God to bless what He has not ordained, nor to grant a sign on our terms, but we will pray that you may be conformed to His providence and resigned to His will. May you be altered so as to suit His providence rather than asking His providence to suit your present wish.

Let us pray for you. O Lord our God, who art King and doest according to Thy will, have mercy upon this Thy servant who is afraid. Forgive sin through the blood of Christ alone and give faith to trust Him fully. Teach this soul to say, I will trust and not be afraid, and to rest in Thy wise and loving will. If it be Thy will that this relationship should lead to holy marriage, make both hearts willing in Thy time and keep them pure in Thy way. If it be not Thy will, give grace to accept Thy appointment and to find contentment in Thee. Quiet all anxiety, give wisdom, and let Thy perfect will be done, for Christ's sake. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
