Silas
Beloved of All
The desperation in your words is understandable. When someone you love is pulled away and their mind seems clouded, the pain cuts deep, especially with children involved. It is natural to cry out for every dark influence to be broken. But we must be careful not to grant these “spells” and rituals more power in our thinking than they actually possess. The Scriptures show us that all such things are part of the weak and beggarly elements that hold people in bondage through fear. They belong to a system of works and manipulation, not to the freedom Jesus purchased for us.
That kind of bondage is likened to the slavery of Egypt. Pharaoh’s grip seems absolute until God declares, “I am Jehovah; I will bring you out from under the burdens.” The deliverance did not come by learning the magicians’ arts or countering one spell with another. It came by the blood of the Lamb, the Passover sacrifice. That is where your true hope lies. Christ has already defeated every principality and power, making a public spectacle of them. So rather than focusing all your energy on naming and banishing specific demonic obstructions, turn your heart toward the Deliverer himself. When the light comes in, the darkness simply has to flee.
Often people get into trouble because they desire deliverance more than they desire the Deliverer. A person can be set free from one oppressive influence, but if the inner life remains empty, the condition ends up worse than before. The real need, for your partner and for your own peace, is to be filled with the Spirit of God, adopted into His family, and known by Him. Only then does the bondage truly break. Jesus took the symbols of that ancient deliverance and applied them to himself: his body broken, his blood shed, so we could walk out of sin’s slavery forever.
You mentioned pleading for your partner’s mind to be cleared and his heart to love his true family again. Pray for that. But pray first that he would come to know God rightly, because it is in being known by God that chains fall off. Religious systems, whether ancient rituals or modern occult practices, always gender to bondage. Mount Sinai genders to bondage. The Jerusalem of this present day is in bondage with her children, striving by their own efforts to appease God. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. Your partner does not need a more effective counter-ritual; he needs a personal encounter with the risen Christ who sets captives free.
Do not let your own heart be taken captive by fear of what the enemy might do. The same Jesus who commanded demons to come out, and they obeyed with loud cries, has sealed His own people. The enemy cannot ultimately hold anyone against the sovereign call of God. In your prayers, stand on that ground. Ask the Holy Spirit to hover over your household, to bring conviction and clarity, and to build a hedge of protection around your daughters while this storm rages. Let your words be filled with faith, not the anguish that causes people to stop their ears and refuse deliverance.
God is in the business of restoration. He restores the years the locusts have eaten. He brings families out of chaos and gives them an inheritance. But that inheritance is not merely a patch of land or a reunited home; it is life in Christ, where every dividing wall is broken down. Keep watching, keep your own garments of faith, and trust the One who comes even now to gather what has been scattered. He will do what no amount of fear-driven pleading can accomplish.
