Pray for me please. Nina C Wilson. Oklahoma. I was diagnosed with brain damage from drinking alcohol. My husband James McGeough disappeared. “Ghosted” me and our two daughters. Grown now. They are ok. Ashamed of me. My only sibling, Lisa, hates me because now she and her husband have to wrangle my affairs. Pay my bills. Arrange grocery deliveries. Etc…. She took my car away from me. I need desperately for God to help me. Forgive me. Heal me. I want to live and see my daughters. My sister. My friends. Meet a good man. Be happy. Travel. Drive. Do my own shopping. Live. I made mistakes. I was broken. God forgive me. Thank you for your prayers if possible.

We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up with heavy hearts before the throne of grace. Your pain is deep, physical, emotional, and spiritual, and we stand with you in prayer, believing that the God who created you is also the God who redeems and restores. You are not forgotten, nor are you beyond His mercy.

First, we must address the weight of sin and its consequences, not to condemn, but to lead you to the freedom that comes from repentance and forgiveness. Your struggle with alcohol has brought harm to your body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The Bible warns us, "Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB). Yet, praise God, this passage also declares that such were some of you, meaning there is hope for transformation through Christ! You have already taken the first step by acknowledging your mistakes and seeking His forgiveness. Now, we pray that He will complete the work He has begun in you.

Your husband’s abandonment is a wound that only God can fully heal. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and his disappearance without explanation is a betrayal that grieves the heart of God. We rebuke the spirit of abandonment and pray for justice and restoration in Jesus’ name. The Lord hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), but He also sees your pain and collects your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). We pray that He would either soften your husband’s heart to return in repentance or provide you with the strength to release him into God’s hands, trusting that your heavenly Father will never leave nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Your daughters’ shame and your sister’s resentment are heavy burdens, but we serve a God who reconciles and restores relationships. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, yet he later declared, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives" (Genesis 50:20 WEB). Even in estrangement, God can work all things together for good (Romans 8:28). We pray that your daughters’ hearts would soften, that they would see your repentance and desire for change, and that the Lord would restore what has been broken. As for your sister, we ask God to replace her bitterness with compassion and her frustration with grace. Pray for her as well, for "bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:28 WEB). Your kindness and humility may be the very thing that leads her to Christ.

Your desire to live fully, to drive, to travel, to manage your own affairs, is not selfish; it is a longing for dignity and purpose, which God delights to restore. The prophet Joel declares, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten" (Joel 2:25 WEB). We believe God can heal your brain, renew your strength, and give you a future filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). But healing is not just physical; it is also spiritual. You must surrender every area of your life to Christ, including your struggles with addiction. Seek out a biblical recovery program, surround yourself with godly believers who can hold you accountable, and immerse yourself in Scripture. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 WEB).

As for your desire to meet a good man, we encourage you to focus first on your relationship with Christ. A godly marriage is a blessing, but it cannot fill the void that only God can satisfy. Pray for a husband who loves the Lord above all else, who will cherish and honor you as Christ does the Church (Ephesians 5:25). But do not rush this process. Allow God to prepare you and your future spouse in His perfect timing.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our sister Nina. Lord, You see her pain, her regret, and her longing for restoration. We ask that You would forgive her sins, heal her body, and renew her mind. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and ask that You would break every chain that binds her. Give her the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek godly help. Lord, we pray for her brain, restore what has been damaged, and let Your healing power flow through her.

Father, we lift up her marriage. If it is Your will, soften James’ heart and draw him back in repentance. If not, give Nina the grace to release him and trust You as her Provider and Protector. Lord, we pray for her daughters, that You would soften their hearts, remove the shame they feel, and restore their relationship with their mother. Let them see Your love reflected in Nina’s life.

We ask for reconciliation with her sister, Lisa. Replace bitterness with love, frustration with patience, and resentment with grace. Lord, we pray for Nina’s future, that You would open doors for her to live independently, to travel, to drive, and to manage her own affairs. Give her joy, purpose, and hope. If it is Your will, prepare a godly man to walk alongside her, but first, prepare her heart to seek You above all else.

Father, we declare that Nina is not defined by her past. She is a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and we speak life, healing, and restoration over her. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your mercy, and Your love. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Nina, you are not alone. The road to healing may be long, but it is not impossible. Take one step at a time, leaning on Christ for strength. Join a local church where you can find support and accountability. Memorize Scripture to combat temptation, such as "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). You are loved, you are valued, and your story is not over. God is writing a new chapter, and we believe it will be one of redemption and hope. Keep pressing into Him.

I too was an alcoholic. I too was and or may have liver damage from drinking too much alcohol. I understand how you may feel. The good news is that God still loves you and he forgives you. I used alcohol as an escape from my work and my wife and our adult kid's and the responsibilities of being a provider for my wife and our adult kid's and my job to be able to support my self and everyone else. All these things were given to me by God and I asked for all of these things. I'm getting much older and I am tired and I tried to use alcohol to take away the anxiety and the stress but it only made it worse. You and I can share our situation so that maybe others will listen to us and not make the same mistakes. Peace be with you my friend. Good luck to you and don't give up the good fight 👍. Amen 🙏
