Physical Healing Brain Damage

Your words show a soul that has suffered much and now turns from the evil that brought this ruin. That turning is no small thing; it is the beginning of health. You have ceased to pour poison into your body, and now you call upon God to undo the damage left behind. He who stilled the storm can calm the troubled waters of your mind. The membranes of the brain have been impaired, as is common when age and excess join hands, but the Physician of souls and bodies is not bound by our weakness.

Yet do not fix your hope only on recovering your former life. You miss your daily routine, your freedom, your family. That longing, though natural, must be purified. To desire what is lost as if it could be grasped again by wishing is like a bird that dreams of soaring without wings. The desire itself, if left ungoverned, becomes a new torment. Instead, seek first the freedom that no circumstance can steal: the liberty of a soul freed from sin and bound to Christ. True freedom is not found in the absence of chains but in virtue reigning within. I have seen slaves more honorable than free men, and the poor wealthier than the rich, because they possessed this inner treasure.

Your sorrow over your daughters, your sister, the years devoured by grief and drink, this sorrow can be turned to profit. Sorrow for lost wealth repairs nothing; sorrow for the dead cannot raise them; sorrow for sickness only deepens the malady. But sorrow for sin, when it leads to repentance, brings healing and life. This sorrow you have, and it is a gift. Do not let it sour into despair. That man who abandoned you is not the root of your suffering. His betrayal was bitter, but the poison that ravaged your brain came not from his ghosting but from an ungoverned will that sought an impossible escape. Now the will is being set right. Let that be your focus.

Pray for physical healing, yes, and we shall pray with you, for we are compassed about with a great cloud of witnesses who endured much and were restored. Their memory is a refreshing shade to a soul scorched by grief. But do not measure God’s love by whether your body is made whole. He may restore your mind and strength gradually, or He may grant something better: a spirit so anchored in Him that even this affliction becomes a tutor leading you to holiness. Holiness is not merely chastity; it is freedom from every sin, from envy, resentment, and the vain pursuit of what is gone. Even almsgiving, if done to win praise, is tainted. So let your desire now be pure: to please God, not to reclaim a past that was itself full of snares.

We would have done you damage if we kept silent, offering only smooth words. But because we love you with a father’s freedom, we speak plainly. Do not think that because you have heard these things before and remained unchanged, this word is in vain. A tree may bear ten blows and not fall, yet the eleventh fells it, not by its own force alone, but because the earlier blows prepared the break. So too the many homilies you may have heard, the seasons of remorse, the prayers of others, they are not wasted. Today the fruit may appear.

Therefore rise from this bed of despondency. You no longer drink; that is a mighty stroke against the disease. Now guard the will. When memories of the past assault you, do not entertain them as welcome guests. They are sparks that rekindle the flame. Turn your mind to the cloud of witnesses: think of the saints who endured loss far greater and found Christ sufficient. He does not abandon the broken. Commend your daughters to God, and if you cannot be with them as you long, trust that He can guard them better than you. Pray for their souls, and in that holy work you shall find a purpose that no court or nursing home can confine.

May the Lord who rebuked the fever and gave sight to the blind touch the injury within your brain and restore what is lacking. But even if He permits a thorn to remain, know that His grace is sufficient, and power is made perfect in weakness. We will pray for you unceasingly. Only continue in repentance, cling to the Church, and receive the medicine of the divine mysteries. There is balm in Gilead; there is a Physician whose skill surpasses all understanding.

You have walked through fire, and the fact that you are reaching out shows the flicker of life and hope still burning in your soul. No drink can touch that. The damage feels overwhelming now, but we serve a God who is not limited by a flat line or a broken scan. He is the one who formed the intricate pathways of the brain in the first place, and He knows every shattered connection that needs to be remade.

There is so much we do not understand about healing. We see in Scripture that it does not always arrive in a single, dramatic moment. Remember the blind man who saw people looking like trees walking around. The touch of Jesus brought a partial restoration at first, and then a second touch brought complete clarity. That gradual process was no less divine. The slow, painstaking recovery of neural pathways, the daily struggle to regain memory and motor skills, the whole process itself is sacred ground. Do not despise the small, incremental steps. Every bit of clarity that returns, every reclaimed thought, is a gift from His hand.

The journey out of this will involve practical steps of restoration, much like the ten men who were told to go show themselves to the priest. The healing was already in motion as they obeyed, but they had to take the first step toward being reintegrated into their lives. For you, that means embracing the daily routine you miss so deeply, even in small, modified ways. It means cooperating with the therapies and the disciplines that feel so mundane. As you do this, hold fast to the discipline of giving thanks. It was the one who returned with gratitude who was made truly whole, receiving far more than just a physical cure. Gratitude is the environment where wholeness grows.

What you are clinging to now is hope. That word is often cheapened, but real hope is a powerful combination of a deep desire and a firm expectation. Your soul desires your old life, your daughters, your sister, and your freedom. But hope is when you pair that desire with an expectation that God is working, that He has not abandoned you to the ash heap. You are a prisoner of this hope, as the apostle said. It is what keeps you going when everything else feels like it is failing. Why are you cast down? Put your hope in God, for you shall yet praise Him. Your expectation is not in a man who failed you, but in a Savior who never will.

That man’s betrayal cut deep, but your identity and your future are not bound to his ghost. The Spirit of God will help you in your weakness now, especially when you cannot find the words to pray. There is a divine kind of love that is nothing like the self-centered lust that used and abandoned you. This is a steadfast, enduring love God has shed abroad in our hearts. It believes all things and hopes all things. As you walk this path, and you must choose this daily, walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh that wants to look back in despair. You are alive, and life is before you. Your family, your daughters, they are part of that restoration. Taking care of them, reconnecting with them, is part of your healing too.

This present suffering is real, but it is not the end. We look for the blessed hope, the appearing of our great God and Savior, who will one day make all things right, where the lame will leap and the damaged brain will be perfectly whole. Until that day, you are not forgotten. The God who made you with an emptiness only He can fill is the same God who is filling you with His presence right now in this broken place. Hang in there. The Lord is going to work.

We want you to know how deeply we have been praying for your healing and restoration since you shared your heart with us. Our hearts have been heavy as we have lifted you before the Lord, asking Him to touch your mind and body with His healing power, to mend the damage caused by alcohol, and to renew your strength each day. We have prayed specifically for physical healing in your brain, that God would restore what has been broken and bring clarity, peace, and wholeness where there has been pain and confusion.

We have also lifted up your heartache—your longing for your family, your daughters, your sister, and the life you once knew. We have asked the Lord to comfort you in your grief and to remind you of His unfailing love, even in the midst of loss. We have prayed for your emotional healing, that God would fill the empty places with His presence and give you hope for the future. We believe that He sees your sorrow and is near to you, even now.

If you have seen any signs of healing—whether in your body, your mind, or your spirit—we would be so encouraged to hear about it. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you! If your healing hasn’t come yet, or if the journey feels longer than you expected, we want you to know we are still standing with you. Please post your request again, and we will continue to lift you up in prayer, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot see it.

Above all, we pray that you would feel God’s love surrounding you, that you would sense His grace sustaining you, and that you would find strength in Him as you walk this road. May He draw you closer to His heart and remind you that you are never alone. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
