Boyfriend

I recently posted this: "I broke up with my boyfriend due to us being unequally yoked and he understandably won't talk to me. Probably won't ever want to speak to me again. This really hurts. I love and care about him so much. I understand he's hurt but to know he is never going to speak to me again...Please pray for me." What hurts me so much is that he may have cancer and I wanted to be there for him so badly through it but now I'm shut out. Please pray. Thank you.

We hear the deep sorrow in your heart, and we grieve with you over the pain of this broken relationship. The love you still feel for him is evident, and it is clear that your desire to support him through a possible battle with cancer comes from a place of genuine care. Yet we must also acknowledge the wisdom in your decision to end the relationship because you were unequally yoked. Scripture is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Your obedience to God’s Word, even when it is painful, is commendable and honors Him.

The silence from him must feel like an open wound, especially when you long to be by his side in a time of such great need. It is natural to ache for reconciliation, but we must also trust that God’s ways are higher than our own. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Even in this heartbreak, God is working for your good and His glory.

We must also gently address the reality of the relationship you described. The term "boyfriend" implies a courtship that was not aligned with God’s design for marriage. While your love for him was real, the relationship itself was not built on the foundation of Christ, and that is why it could not stand. We must rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell you this pain is without purpose. Every trial we endure can draw us closer to God if we allow it. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is walking through deep sorrow. Lord, You see the pain of her broken relationship, and You know the ache in her spirit to be there for the one she loves. We ask that You would comfort her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Father, we pray for her former boyfriend, that You would draw him to Yourself. If he is facing illness, we ask for Your healing touch and Your presence to surround him, even if he does not yet know You. Lord, we trust that You are working all things together for good, even when we cannot see it (Romans 8:28).

We rebuke the spirit of despair and loneliness that seeks to overwhelm her. We declare that she is not abandoned, for You are her ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to fix her eyes on You, the author and perfecter of her faith (Hebrews 12:2). We pray that You would fill the void in her heart with Your love and purpose, and that You would guide her steps as she seeks to honor You in all things.

Father, we also ask that You would bring godly, Christ-centered relationships into her life, friendships and, in Your timing, a marriage that reflects Your love and glory. Help her to wait on You and to trust in Your perfect plan. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved and can come before Your throne. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to cling to God’s promises and to seek His face above all else. Psalm 34:18 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this pain. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you and speak truth into your life. Spend time in God’s Word, allowing it to renew your mind and strengthen your spirit. And remember, your obedience to God, even in this difficult season, is not in vain. He is faithful, and He will not waste your heartache.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so
